Flower Fairy Descriptions by Lemon

I’ve been asked to do some descriptions of our favorite flower fairies, but I realized that many of the names aren’t really names. So, if it is okay with you all, I’m only going to do ones with “real” names - it is easier for me to imagine them as people that way…

[name]DAY[/name] ONE - [name]BRYONY[/name]

[name]Black[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Fairy[/name]:

[name]Bryony[/name] is thoughtful and intelligent, spunky and imaginative. I imagine [name]Bryony[/name] running through a field of wildflowers, her honey brown hair falling in loose tendrils on her back and her big, chocolate orbs taking in the world around her. Absorbed in a sweet daydream, [name]Bryony[/name]'s creative spirit carries her away to a different world. With her bare feet she steps on a loose branch, and the snap of the bark startles her out of her daydream. A smile creeps onto her face and she giggles at her silliness, turning her head toward the sound of her mother’s call. Reluctantly, [name]Bryony[/name] says farewell to the world of mother nature, a world she knows so well and considers her second home. Obedient and cheerful as ever, she skips off toward the house, carrying with her the happy thoughts and pleasant memories of her time among the flower fairies…

White [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Fairy[/name]:

[name]Lemon[/name]

I think your description captured the essence of the [name]Black[/name] [name]Briony[/name] [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name] very well! There’s also the White [name]Briony[/name] [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name] for you to do – she’s a blonde. She’s one of my favorites because she looks like she’s dressed as a little girl from ancient [name]Rome[/name].

Another one of my little [name]Roman[/name] girl favorites is the Stitchwort [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name]. You could describe her, and name her “Stellaria” – which is the Latin botanical name for Stitchwort.

In fact, you could probably describe all of the [name]Flower[/name] Fairies with plausible “real” names by merely substituting some foreign language names for the flowers, when the English names don’t quite sound like “real” names. Hey – if I have some time later today or this evening, I’ll see about making up a list of alternate “real” names for those difficult [name]Flower[/name] Fairies.

You really ought to cut and paste into this thread your earlier [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name] descriptions (from the [name]Tansy[/name] topic on the board), so you’ll have everything in one place.

Well done, [name]Lemon[/name]!

– [name]Nephele[/name]

Thanks, [name]Nephele[/name]! I had a little trouble on the [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name] website because the glossary didn’t seem to be all-inclusive - it was only two pages long! So, I’ve got to track down the other fairies.

It seems like my [name]Bryony[/name] is a mix between the [name]Black[/name] and White [name]Bryony[/name] Fairies, then?

[name]TANSY[/name]

I imagine [name]Tansy[/name] to be a bright, curious little girl with long, flowing blond curls and big, beautiful hazel eyes. She is independent and strong, yet she appears fragile and small. I envision a little [name]Tansy[/name] wearing a sweet cream linen sundress, walking barefoot through a field of wildflowers. She stops to pluck a lone blossom and threads the bloom through her pretty, soft tendrils. As she runs back to her mother, I imagine [name]Tansy[/name] skipping giddily, her hair beating against her back as her bare feet hop through the dry grass. She stops and listens when she hears the call of a wild bird, and her calm face breaks out into a toothy grin as she calls her mother to come watch with her. She is inquisitive and gentle, emotional and intellectual. As she grows up, I see [name]Tansy[/name] being a bit of a loner, out of choice rather than force - she prefers to be in her own quiet, peaceful world rather than the hustle and bustle of everyday teenage life. I see her as a gentle woman, a kind mother, a soft-spoken but courageous activist. I think [name]Tansy[/name] would be a lovely friend to have, and a lovely little girl to watch over as she grows into the wonderful woman she will be…

[name]MARIGOLD[/name]

Sassy and rambunctious, [name]Marigold[/name] has a bold personality that nobody can forget. With her golden brown hair tied back in sloppy pigtails and dressed in soft denim shorts and a loose peasant top, [name]Marigold[/name] is ready to face the day. Her blue eyes twinkling and a devilish grin on her face, she races out the door, barefoot. Being the trickster that she is, [name]Marigold[/name] shouts to her mother that she’ll be back in a bit and heads out, forgetting to shut the door in the process. Her mother looks on as [name]Marigold[/name], curious and intelligent as ever, bounds through the yard, hops over the fence, and runs to her neighbor’s house, all the while a toothy grin plastered on her shining face. Later on, [name]Marigold[/name] rushes through the door again, nearly crushing her mother in the process. A small creature in her hands makes a little squeak, alerting the girls of his presence. [name]Marigold[/name] looks down, uncharacteristically calm, and soothes the small puppy with her tiny fingers. “Look, mom,” she says, “[name]Theo[/name] got a new puppy!” And that’s [name]Marigold[/name] - playful and fun, independent and curious, and just a tad bit irresponsible. [name]Marigold[/name] is confident and bright, yet her sassy attitude and tendency toward sneakiness and adventure make her a handful of a daughter, but the perfect person to spend a lazy afternoon with!

And, even though she isn’t a [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name], we’ll include her…

[name]MAGNOLIA[/name]

[name]Magnolia[/name] is a bright, thoughtful, delicate little girl. I imagine her with red curls lightened by time spent out in the sun, her green eyes flashing as she observes the world around her. Dressed in a sweet floral party dress, [name]Magnolia[/name] skips down the drive, her ruby-red sandals slapping the ground with every step. [name]Magnolia[/name], though small and gentle, is a leader, and she pulls her friend, timid and shy, along the concrete with her, giddily laughing all the way. Attentive and curious, [name]Magnolia[/name] stops suddenly when she sees a fallen bird’s nest, immediately directing her friend’s attention to the small baby bird cradled in the broken twigs. [name]Magnolia[/name] takes on a motherly persona, soothing the bird with her sweeter-than-sugar voice and soft laugh, and she grins up at her pal as the bird begins to settle. Proud of her accomplishment, [name]Magnolia[/name] jumps up and scurries toward the house, her curls bouncing as she runs in search of her father. [name]Magnolia[/name], though gentle and intellectual, is stubborn and sassy, and her bold personality makes her a friend to all.

Yeah. That’d be terrible! Thanks for the advice and information, [name]Nephele[/name]!

You’re welcome, [name]Lemon[/name]. I edited all that out of my last posting, so as not to distract from your [name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name] descriptions here. I suggest you edit it out of your last posting, too. That way we’ll just have your lovely descriptions in this thread.

[name]COLUMBINE[/name]

[name]Columbine[/name] is a quiet and reserved little girl, with short dirty blond hair cut into a bob and dark, focused hazel eyes. Laying in a lone hammock on a dry summer’s day, [name]Columbine[/name] lazily glides from side to side, her short hair sticking to her damp neck and her eyes, sad and tired, drooping closed. [name]Pleasant[/name] and still, though curious and observant, [name]Columbine[/name] struggles to stay awake, the sun beating down on her from above. [name]Just[/name] as she dozes off, a sharp cry catches her attention. Letting go of the trials of the morning, [name]Columbine[/name] lets out a stifled giggle as she notices her kitten, [name]Rupert[/name], desperately trying to free his paw from being caught in the hammock. [name]Pleasant[/name] and gentle as always, [name]Columbine[/name] leans down, scooping up the frightened kitty, placing him on her chest as she again reclines in the hammock. Reassuring the animal with a light pat and a soft kiss, [name]Columbine[/name] slowly shuts her eyes again, a satisfied smile gracing her delicate and childlike face.

Enjoy!

[name]IVY[/name]

[name]Ivy[/name] is a clever and spontaneous little girl, with brown hair, lightened by the sun, and hazel-green eyes. Sneaky and playful, [name]Ivy[/name] is a true joy to be around, but her thoughtfulness and genuine concern for others make her a gentle and loving child. [name]Ivy[/name] lets out a loud chuckle as she leaps over her jump-rope, skipping to the beat of her favorite nursery rhyme as her pals, [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Clara[/name], spin the rope in time. Faster and faster she goes until - whoops! - her foot catches the rope and she collapses in a fit of giggles, her hair, short and curly, falling into her face as she slides to the ground. Within seconds, however, the determined little girl is back up and in action, skipping rope like she’s been doing it for years. Tiring, she takes the end of the rope from [name]Sadie[/name], encouraging her friend to take her place over the jump rope. As the girls play, [name]Ivy[/name]'s soft laugh and cheerful smile show onlookers the joys of childhood in the summertime…

Enjoy!

Oh [name]Lemon[/name]! Why did you stop these? I love them so! Could you perhaps be bothered to do [name]Lily[/name]?
