We found out we’re having a girl! I would love to keep the flower trend going but I am in a bit of a dilemma. My sister-in-law has three girls and they each have flower middle names, Daisy, Rose, and Lily. Which of course are all my favorite flower names!
I really love the name Rosalie with the nickname Rosie. I think it’s different enough than Rose but still has a flower feel.
My husband says that I shouldn’t worry so much and name our little girl whatever I like, even if it is a name similar to our nieces middle names. I’d love to have your opinions.
Also, if there are any other flower names that you love I’d love to hear them!
I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]! Other possible names could be [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (although the last two are quite old-timey). Honestly, go with the name you feel most enthusiastic about as you may regret it later.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is lovely! I think if they are middle names, it’s totally fine to repeat similar or even the same names within families.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] sprang to mind for me too. You might also like [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], nicknamed [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] again or even [name_f]Posy[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]?
I don’t think it would be an issue. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] as a first name is different than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle name. And not many people would know (besides immediate family). I think it could be seen as an honour too which is a sweet way to tie the girls
In my family , my moms middle name is [name_u]Anne[/name_u] , my cousin who is 6 years older than me has [name_u]Anne[/name_u] as a middle name , [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is one of my middle names and it is also my nieces middle name. None of us have a variant of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and it had never been an issue.
I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]! I think since [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a middle name - and such a common one at that - I think it should be totally fine!
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is lovely. I also love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]. I understand you not wanting to use the middle names of your nieces but I also feel that a middle name is not a first name and (for me anyway) it shouldn’t be an issue to use one of them if you love it.
I agree with your husband! If you love the name and you keep coming back to it who cares if it’s her middle name! Chances are they won’t use her middle name much when you are together anyways. I don’t see it being an issue.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is really cute!
Other flower options…
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
I think it could be really cute for the cousins to share flower names. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband has 7 girl cousins and all their names start and end in A. [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], etc. They love the connection and are getting an “A” tattoo together
I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be fine, since it’s a different name than [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
Other names I have flower associations with:
[name_f]Elanor[/name_f] (it’s a flower in [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings)
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] (for lilac)
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_u]Laurel[/name_u] or [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
