Flower Name for Baby Girl...Which Smells Better?!

I’m at a loss as to what to name baby number two. I wavered a bit when naming my son, but around this time in my pregnancy with him we were set. Good news, is husband is on board with either name.

[name_m]Son[/name_m]'s name: [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Stone[/name_m]

Girl Names

Choice #1: [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u]
Choice #2: [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]

I don’t know what it is about the flower names, but I’m just in love. My criteria is not too popular, ([name_m]Leo[/name_m] wasn’t in the Top 100 when we chose it), girly, and not too eccentric. With [name_m]Leo[/name_m], part of my criteria was there needed to be no question as to say or pronounce his name, but I’ve realized that people always ask something that drive you nuts. The question I get with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is, “Is that short for anything?”

So, my question to you is, which name do you like better? Is [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] ALWAYS going to be mispronounced? [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

PS - The middle names are meaningful, so I’m not really looking to change them. My thoughts on a middle name are that no one really ever uses them except when you graduate from high school and at your wedding, so why not have something cool?!?

I am going to be zero help because I love them both. I do think [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] will be mispronounced often but ALL names are, no matter how common they are. My husband is [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and it’s ridiculous how many people hear [name_m]Matt[/name_m]. I love both [name_u]January[/name_u] and [name_m]Gold[/name_m] in the middle, I love a bit of unexpected/spunk/crazy in the middle. The only thing that is swaying my vote a teeny tiny bit is the fact that [name_m]Leo[/name_m] played [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in The Titanic and his lover was [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It’s not a deal breaker, kids will not make that connection and not all adults will. It’s just a thought.

Oooo…this is so hard, I love both names. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is so simple and classic, but [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is also so beautiful and unique. I pronounce [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] like Dahl-ya. I don’t think pronunciation will be that big of a deal, but I’m not sure. I think I’m going to have to go with [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m], that is just too gorgeous to pass up; I love it!

I’m falling head over heels in love with [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]! It’s spunky, unexpected, definitively feminine…ahh! I don’t think [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] will be mispronounced often enough to cause you a headache.

I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but my vote goes for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]. The combo is just beautiful and a lot more unexpected. She’ll have pronunciation issue, but I guess a lot of names are, so personally I don’t see it as a deal breaker.

I personally love [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I think you’ll have to correct some people on [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] at least once but, if you love it more I think that burden is worth it.

I love [name_u]January[/name_u].

What about [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u]? It is more original than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and sounds better to me than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u].

I vote for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u]! Perfect combo!

I’d go with [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]. It is refreshingly different. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is pretty but it is super common. And somebody mispronouncing a name isn’t going to be the end of the world, so it’s okay.

What about [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]?

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] is great, perfect balance.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] is such a beautiful combination, I would definitely go with that one. There probably will be pronunciation issues, but if you love it enough then it won’t be too difficult. People deal with even more difficult pronunciations all the time. I pronounce it like day-lee-a, but I’m from the UK so I don’t think it’s said the same as elsewhere.

I do love them both, but I have just been in love with the name [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] for years now, so it might take the lead for me  Both are great choices!

Never thought of combinations like these but they are both gorgeous! My vote definitely goes for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]. It’s beautiful, feminine and has a better flow than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u] in my opinion. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is also much less common than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and probably not heading for a steep increase in popularity soon so it fits that criteria. I pronounce it Dahl-ya. Never realized there were so many other ways to say it!

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u] is gorgeous - I love the unexpectedness of [name_u]January[/name_u] in the middle spot.

I vote [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It’s really hard to beat.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]! doll-yah is pretty close to how I pronounce [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. I love the name and agree that flower names are great! My favorite flower names are [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Jonquil[/name_f], and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is beautiful!

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] is stunning. I also like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]January[/name_u]. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] would also be very nice, if you’re open to other flowers.
