Flynn, Dexter and Others

Could I have some opinions on some names please? These are all (for one reason or another) names that never quite made the list for a first name. I’m definitely usually a fan of traditional, sturdy names for boys but am currently feeling somewhat uninspired by our current considerations.

Big sister is [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Clara[/name].

Any feedback would be great. Thanks in advance for any replies!

[name]Flynn[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Roman[/name]
[name]Caspian[/name]
[name]Ivor[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]

My opinions,

[name]Flynn[/name] - does not seem as classy as [name]Amelie[/name], somehow
[name]Dexter[/name] - like it, second choice
[name]Arthur[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this name. I think it’s fine to use two A names like this. This is my first choice
[name]Roman[/name] - goes well with [name]Amelie[/name], both seem names for americans who love Europe. I know a [name]Roman[/name] and it wears well as a name
[name]Caspian[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t use this unless you love CS [name]Lewis[/name] or have reason to think about [name]Caspian[/name] sea, third choice.
[name]Ivor[/name] - trying too hard to be manly, in my opinion.
[name]Oscar[/name] - 4th choice

[name]Flynn[/name] - Kind of neutral on this. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. Might be refreshing to see.
[name]Dexter[/name] - Really love this name, but I worry about the serial killer connection, especially if you’re US based.
[name]Arthur[/name] - My absolute favorite of these names.
[name]Roman[/name] - Does nothing for me.
[name]Caspian[/name] - Cute, has a neat sound, but hard for me to envision applying to a baby.
[name]Ivor[/name] - NMS at all.
[name]Oscar[/name] - I feel about this much the same way I feel about [name]Flynn[/name].

I like your list quite a lot. Here are my thoughts on each name:
[name]Flynn[/name]- In general, I like this name quite a lot. It has a casual, laid-back kind of vibe to it that I appreciate. However, paired up next to [name]Amelie[/name] I don’t like it as much. [name]Amelie[/name] has such an elegant, noble aire to it. [name]Flynn[/name] just doesn’t seem to mesh up well with it.
[name]Dexter[/name]- I really can’t decide whether I like this name or not. The association to the TV serial killer is very strong in my mind. Besides that, it’s a pretty solid name. Not one I’d choose myself, but I can see the attraction to it. Wish it had a more interesting meaning though.
[name]Arthur[/name]- I think this one matches up pretty well with [name]Amelie[/name], if you don’t mind both names start with a letter ‘A’. If you end up having a third kid, it might make you feel the need to keep up this ‘A’ tradition you’d be building for yourself.
[name]Roman[/name]- I think [name]Roman[/name] and [name]Amelie[/name] both a have cool “worldly” vibe to it. I like the sound of [name]Roman[/name] quite a bit as a name, however it does very clearly seem to mean it’s meaning (citizen of [name]Rome[/name]), which seems a little strange for a name.
[name]Caspian[/name]- I think this is actually quite a stunning name. Also has the ‘wordly’ vibe, like [name]Roman[/name]. It sounds very noble and somewhat regal, which matches up well with [name]Amelie[/name]. I like it quite a bit. [name]Cassian[/name] would be another cool option.
[name]Ivor[/name]- I’m not such a fan of this one, it sounds a little bit harsh to my ear.
[name]Oscar[/name]- In normal occasions I have mixed feelings about this name, I seem to go back and forth about whether I like it or not. But when paired with [name]Amelie[/name], in some ways this feels like the perfect match. It has the same kind of slightly formal (but in a good way) and friendly feel to it. [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name] seem like natural siblings. This would probably be my number one choice for you, though on it’s own [name]Caspian[/name] may be my overall favorite from your list.

I totally disagree with everyone’s opinions of [name]Flynn[/name]! Sorry guys… I feel [name]Flynn[/name] is just as elegant and flowy and lovely as [name]Amelie[/name]. I think [name]Amelie[/name] & [name]Flynn[/name] would be a gorgeous sibset (not that I care much for the pairing of names).

I feel [name]Dexter[/name] is a very harsh sounding name and I am not a fan of it based on that. But if you like it, go for it:)
[name]Arthur[/name] - I don’t mind it, but it doesn’t jump out at me.
[name]Roman[/name] - Does nothing for me.
[name]Caspian[/name] - I much prefer [name]Jasper[/name] or [name]Casper[/name]… Sorry!
[name]Ivor[/name] - A little too harsh sounding for me, sorry… I feel so rude!
[name]Oscar[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Oscar[/name]. [name]Amelie[/name] & [name]Oscar[/name] I think would be nice!

Some other suggestions are:
[name]Felix[/name], [name]Dominic[/name], [name]Ralph[/name], [name]Walter[/name], [name]Chester[/name], [name]Marlowe[/name], [name]Marley[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Dieter[/name], [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Kirk[/name], [name]Claude[/name], [name]Pierre[/name], [name]Marius[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Maurice[/name].

[name]Flynn[/name] is fantastic! Definitely my fav from your list.

We are strongly considering using [name]Flynn[/name] for a middle name. i [name]LOVE[/name] IT!
I also love [name]Dexter[/name] and [name]Roman[/name].
I think of [name]Felix[/name] with your other names ( I am obsessed with this name…)
