Flynn of Jack

Hello, Berries! We are down to the wire and really need to decide on a name for baby boy #4. His brothers’ names are:

[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Tucker[/name]
[name]David[/name]

We are considering for the new little boy:

[name]Flynn[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Jack[/name] [name]Jameson[/name]

My husband is in love with the idea of a little [name]Jack[/name]-[name]Jack[/name]. I like both, but am concerned that [name]Jack[/name] is too popular. Which do you like best? Which fits in best with the other boys?

Our last name ends in an -ell if that makes a difference.

Opinions, please! You all are so very stylish!!

I really like both names. I know [name]Jack[/name] is more popular but I do love the sound of [name]Jack[/name] [name]Jameson[/name]. Either way you cannot go wrong.

[name]Jack[/name] is popular, but classic. [name]Flynn[/name] is trendy. I prefer [name]Jack[/name]

Thanks for the quick replies! I guess I really am torn between classic and trendy. Maybe I will just have to have another boy so I can use both names!

Any other comments?

[name]Silly[/name] me. The title should read [name]Flynn[/name] or [name]Jack[/name], but oh well. Too late to edit!

Aw, I think you’ve made excellent choices!

[name]Taylor[/name], [name]Tucker[/name], [name]David[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] are all classically slightly rugged to me. I see them on pretty much all ages, and they’re not “trendy” at all.
[name]Flynn[/name] is a great name, but it’s definitely a bit more on the trendy side.
[name]Flynn[/name] [name]James[/name] I like more than [name]Jack[/name] [name]Jameson[/name], if you were to switch up the middle of [name]Jack[/name] then I’d probably vote for that one.

Are you open to [name]Jack[/name] [name]Flynn[/name]? I think that’d be dashing and perfect! Also, what are your other boys middle names? I’m curious, and so I can suggest more ideas.

LOL, well this is crazy to explain. My husband had a tradition in his family of 9 where all the middle boys received the middle initial J. It never stood for a full name. It was just a J, which was a really big pain for military paperwork later on. Everything got kicked back, and he had to put the “J” in quotation marks. Anyway, our tribute to his side of the family was to continue the tradition but give our boys an actual middle name. Needless to say, they all have the middle name [name]James[/name].

Now, as an older mama, I love names too much to be in love with the tradition, but I don’t want this little one to feel left out at the end, either. [name]Jack[/name] [name]James[/name] seems a bit choppy to me. I have also considered multiple middle names to break it up a bit, such as [name]Jack[/name] [name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name]. Any suggestions would be so helpful!

I do rather like [name]Jack[/name] [name]Flynn[/name].

[name]Taylor[/name], [name]Tucker[/name] and [name]Flynn[/name] are all surnames. I would choose [name]Jack[/name] to avoid [name]David[/name] being the odd one out. Your four boys would then have an equal balance of surnames and traditional names. [name]Jack[/name] [name]Flynn[/name] would be a wonderful compromise.
