When I was going over my name combo list I realized that some of my favorite name combos are related by either theme or meaning.
Here are some examples that I just came up with to help you guys understand better:
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] - “worker in stone” and a birth stone
[name_u]Kai[/name_u] [name_u]Sailor[/name_u]- “sea” and a sailor
[name_u]Kai[/name_u] [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] - both water-related
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] - both music related
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] - both meaning “light”
My #1 combo is like the ones of [name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] [name_u]Sailor[/name_u], the fn being an occupational name in English while the mn being a nature name in foreign language and both share the same theme.
My feelings are torn although I’m secretly hoping that it’s not that big of a deal bc I love these two particular names so much together
So I want to know what Berries think about this.
Is it too matchy, or cheesy, or odd that both fn and the mn are related some way, even when the relation isn’t obvious at all?
I wouldn’t fret too much over meaning, if it won’t be noticable to most people. (I love [name_u]Kai[/name_u] [name_u]Sailor[/name_u], but [name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] makes me want to say [name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Jason[/name_m] ”)
Some of those I wouldn’t even know had the same meaning. They aren’t super obvious. When I was in Mexico, I met a little girl named [name_f]Luz[/name_f] [name_f]Estrella[/name_f] (light, star). That is a little more obvious.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]! Unless you happen to meet a name dork (like me!) I wouldn’t worry. They aren’t obviously matchy-matchy at all.
I think that sort of matching is GREAT! A lot of people do it intentionally! I know one Nameberry who is giving her Daughter two Names which together mean “bright shining sun” and I think this is AWESOME!
The only thing I don’t think works all that well is if someone uses two Names which are different versions of the same Name as a First and Second, such as [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], but even this isn’t terrible!
