I’m not sure this will be met with a ton of approval, but I’m really loving [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] lately! I love the unexpected “sz” combination, and it’s said almost identically to [name_f]Esther[/name_f] (which, I suppose, begs the question, “Why not [name_f]Esther[/name_f]?!”, but I love names from other nationalities!). It’s the Hungarian form of the name.
I figure it’d be a hassle as a FN, but I am considering it as a middle. I’m considering [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] the most, but also am wondering about [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]–any other ideas? I suggested [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] to another [name_u]Berry[/name_u]–which I really, really love!–but I much prefer [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] to [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], and don’t love [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] quite so much.
Oooh, [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] is interesting. It seems lighter than [name_f]Esther[/name_f] somehow.
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] and [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] are both lovely combinations, feminine and sweet but not too froufrou. They both feel very Eastern European as combinations though- [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] is pretty obviously Eastern European with the “sz”, [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] is used a lot in that part of the world, and -ana names are common there too. This isn’t a bad thing, but might seem a bit odd on a child who isn’t Eastern European.
Suggestions that give me the same sort of vibe, not sure if they’re all your thing though:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermia[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] (as an alternative to [name_f]Liliana[/name_f])
[name_f]Portia[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
Amélie [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] (still would love to see [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] on your list somewhere)
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] (instead of [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddalena[/name_f])
[name_f]Victoire[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Milena[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonina[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurore[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] (also feels E. European though)
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
Mireille Eszter
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]
@grackym - I am pretty set on [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], although I do have another I’ve been considering ([name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Dagmar[/name_f]), but [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] might rival them! I love her a lot. My favorite part about [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is that it references each Dashwood sister (from Sense and Sensibility!) in a different way, and I don’t think I could replicate that with any other combo. (Unless I suddenly loved [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] “[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]”? haha) But I do love [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] so much, and I think [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be perfect in full! I’ll have to give her more thought. [name_f]Happy[/name_f] [name_m]New[/name_m] Year to you, too!
@[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] - thanks! I do like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], but worry it just sounds like a list of Bible names? I do adore [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and want to add her to my list, but I’ve been thinking of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for a combo.
@[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] - Ooh, yes, I totally agree! It feels like a more modern, lighter version of [name_f]Esther[/name_f], which still feels a bit too vintage for me to have gotten behind fully (although I do like her as a MN in places–[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f], etc.). aww, thank you for all the ideas! What I love about [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]/[name_f]Carolina[/name_f]/[name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] is that they’re fairly international names, but I could easily see a little Eastern European girl wearing the name! (Plus, I love the romantic feel of something like [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], or [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] next to [name_f]Eszter[/name_f].) I do like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (although she’s pretty much MN-only material for me. I can’t 100% get into [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]'s nns), etc., with [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] a lot! I’m also intrigued by [name_f]Mireille[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] with [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]. I had been thinking maybe [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], but [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] sounds REALLY old-lady to me, for some reason. As for [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], I do have [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] on my list right now.
Thanks, @mickie86! I love the suggestion of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], and am intrigued by [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], too! [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] intrigues me, but I don’t like [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] very much. I’m thinking about [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], but I don’t think I like it so much?
And MAYBE [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f]. Any other ideas, Berries? I’m also sort of thinking about [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], but I’m not sure how I feel about it. I feel like I need something like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], to split up [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Eszter[/name_f], so the flow is more interesting?
