Follow up on Leo/Alliteration

My husband and I are considering the name [name]Leo[/name] for a boy. The trouble is, our last name is [name]Levy[/name] (pronounced [name]Lee[/name] Vee) and I’m getting some push back about the alliterative double “lee” sound ( "lee-o lee vee). There doesn’t seem to be consensus though, Some people don’t have a problen with it and others do.

[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Leo[/name] is a terrible match with our last name? I feel like the middle names we are considering will break up the lees… options are: [name]Abram[/name], [name]Jordan[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name] or [name]Tobias[/name].

Obviously I wouldn’t want to give my kid a name that would rub people the wrong way. But if the name is a little different bc its alliterative I’d be OK with that! Thanks

I think it’s a little too much with it, unless you pronounce [name]Leo[/name] the French way ([name]Lay[/name]-O). But even the double L’s bother me lol all of your options work better with your last name. [name]Love[/name] [name]Tobias[/name] with it the most!

Another option is to name him [name]Lionel[/name], nickname [name]Leo[/name]. Would [name]Lionel[/name] flow better with our ln?

I think alliteration can be cute. e.g. [name]Liz[/name] [name]Lemon[/name]. Of course you also have the issue of the double ee sound. I prob voted against it in a previous thread, but I would say if you love [name]Leo[/name], embrace it! If anyone comments just say, we think it’s cute. End of convo. In fact the more I say it, the cuter it becomes

I much prefer [name]Leo[/name] [name]Levy[/name] to [name]Toby[/name] [name]Levy[/name], which has all of the rhyminess and none of the alliteration. I say no to [name]Lionel[/name].

I think [name]Leo[/name] [name]Levy[/name] sounds great! If nothing else, it is a memorable name, which can be a really good thing in life!

I’m not a fan. I do like [name]Jordan[/name]!

Thanks emsky and boyandgirl. [name]Just[/name] needed some encouragement to keep [name]Leo[/name] in the running!

I see no problem with [name]Leo[/name] [name]Levy[/name] - as a matter of a fact, its kind of cute!

[name]Leo[/name] [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Levy[/name] seems to balance out nicely.

I think it’s totally fine. Alliteration can be cheesy, but sometimes it’s charming and makes a name more memorable. I like [name]Leo[/name] [name]Levy[/name]!

I’d recommend against it. I think [name]Leonard[/name] [name]Levy[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name] would be better.

I think it goes beyond the usual alliteration cause the first syllable of each name is identical. It isn’t so bad. He could easily be into the nickname [name]Lee[/name] [name]Lee[/name] when he’s at school. It’s easy to picture a confident, athletic boy going by that. It’s also easy to picture a meeker, whiny [name]Woody[/name] [name]Allen[/name] character by the name. It all depends on who he turns out to be. We always imagine our future kids as attractive & dynamic individuals, but who really knows?

[name]Leonardo[/name] [name]Levy[/name] or [name]Leopold[/name] [name]Levy[/name] or any other longer form of [name]Leo[/name] will put some space between the 2 Lees which might flow better.
