Thank you for all of the feedback on my previous post. I have been ruminating over these same names for my baby girl for weeks!
I thought it might help if I shared my reservations for each, as I’m probably too in my head and overthinking.
I LOVE [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] has been my top girls name list forever, but I’m getting hung up on how it sounds with our last name. It would be [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] Tacorian. I’m also not in love with [name_f]Viv[/name_f]. [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] is ok. I love nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f], but I can feel it’s a stretch, like people will wonder how I got there? I’m also questioning if there’s a better middle than the very common [name_f]Grace[/name_f] that would sound as beautiful?
I think [name_f]Leila[/name_f] is beautiful, and could add [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] as a middle, but I am concerned about people mispronouncing and spelling wrong, plus the sea of sameness with [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is gorgeous to me, but I am really concerned about the popularity of Isabelle/Isabella. I’ve always tried to steer away from super popular top 10 names. I do really like that is classic/vintage and [name_u]French[/name_u] influence though, which feels like a nice tie to siblings [name_u]Beau[/name_u] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. Maybe if I found a less common middle I’d feel more satisfied? [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is beautiful, but maybe a bit expected.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] together sounds amazing. I want to love it because I think it looks and sounds fabulous, but [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is feeling a little bit trendy versus timeless.
Would love more thoughts from you on my reservations about the names and also if there’s a middle that would go better with any of them.
I will say if the popularity of Isabelle is of a concern to you then I’d maybe be as concerned about the name Stella. Looking at the numbers Isabelle is listed at #121 and Stella all the way up at #42.
Have you considered Estelle it has the 2-3 syllable “elle” allure of Isabelle and Stella without all the popularity #799. Stella could be an easy nn.
I do love the combo of Vivienne Grace but do understand your concerns about how it flows with your last name when said just as a FN/LN combo.
Maybe some considerations:
Viviana / Vivienna - the simple switch to an “a” ending improves the flow a bit
Genevieve
Evelyn
Evangeline
I do think Leila is a good choice with Vivienne and is probably the most unique of your choices. You could always try an alternate spelling Layla to help with possible spelling and pronunciation issues.
I was going to suggest [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Viviana[/name_f] - I think thats really pretty! [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and variations are rather popular. Maybe if you did [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Viviana[/name_f]- [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] as a nickname? I dont know if that helps!
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is more timeless to me although [name_f]Stella[/name_f] actually is a classic too even though it has that more trendy appeal.
Maybe [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]? Its [name_u]French[/name_u] and has elements you like.
I don’t know what middle. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Viviana[/name_f] isn’t bad but for some reason I don’t like it as much as [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Viviana[/name_f].
For some reason [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] popped in my head
Something simple and contrasting would work nicely!
I think your concerns about [name_f]Leila[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] are the most “legitimate.” [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is hugely popular and definitely trendy, and [name_f]Leila[/name_f] will be frequently misspelled. Also, you sound less enthusiastic about both of these. They’re beautiful names but I would probably leave them behind.
I understand your concerns about [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], but you also sound excited about both of them. And they work wonderfully with your older kids. I think picking a new middle name is the right move to make either one stand out more/improve flow.
I understand where you’re coming from. I will say visually for me what I find appealing about [name_f]Layla[/name_f] over [name_f]Leila[/name_f] with middle name [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is that [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] already has two I’s and 2 e’s. [name_f]Leila[/name_f] adds another e and I for the eye to behold… where an alternate spelling might be able to break that up. When you mentioned popularity I went ahead and clicked on each name and you are correct [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is the more popular way to go but I wanted to share this part of the name description because other then [name_f]Layla[/name_f] I wasn’t aware of other spellings choices:
“Among the many alternate spellings are [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_f]Laela[/name_f], [name_f]Laelah[/name_f], [name_f]Laylah[/name_f], [name_f]Leyla[/name_f], [name_f]Lejla[/name_f], and Leighla.”
I will say another poster has since pointed out that you may seem enthusiastic about other choices. When I saw that I loooed back on your post and I see that as well. Naming is not easy when it’s for a real life child…. [name_m]Just[/name_m] please make sure whatever you go with is one you love and not just one that makes the most sense. You got this!
I actually think [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] sounds great with your surname. The repeated ian sound really works for me. I get why [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is so popular in the middle - it is just so lovely and sounds great with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and your surname. Other ideas, though I don’t think any are better: [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_u]Greer[/name_u], [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. You could also do [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] works fine as a [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] nickname.
I also prefer the [name_f]Leila[/name_f] spelling (though I do also like [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and Laila), and can only say to your concern that many names have spelling and pronunciation issues, and you can get used to it. Vivienne/ Vivien/ [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and Isabelle/ Isabel/ [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] for instance will always have to spell out their names as there are 3 popular versions of each.
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], with all its spellings and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], is very popular, but it’s very individual how much that matters to you. Don’t be swayed by other people, but just consider how much popularity is an issue for you.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] is smart, but also fairly popular. I’d be a little put off by the sharing of an initial with her sister.
Not much help here as I’m not sure which is best either, but would urge you to go with which ever of these is a real favourite as I don’t think any of your reasons are enough to discount any of them.
Honestly I don’t think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is popular enough to be trendy or to worry about it becoming dated. I think you’re right that it isn’t exactly classic, but that’s part of why is doesn’t have the same issues some of your other favorites do like being too popular, too many different spellings, or being similar to other popular names. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] reads to me as vintage revival, and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] is also a great choice and while it is a name that comes with varied spelling, this is among the few most standard and I don’t think would be super cumbersome.
All that said, if [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is your favorite, I really don’t think [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] Tocarian is a dealbreaker. If you stick with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] in the first spot, [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Leila[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f] would be beautiful! And while [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is a little stretch, I don’t think it would be confusing or anything- definitely workable!
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is sleek and lovely. [name_f]Via[/name_f] or [name_f]Enna[/name_f] as nicknames maybe? [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is charming but some other middle names could be [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Amaia[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Twyla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] is dark and lovely and sweet at the same time. I’ve known a couple of Leilas - one with this spelling and people pronounced it right -but i can imagine and understand the concerns over spelling and pronunciation
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is a beautiful name but I have met numerous Isabellas and Isabelles, so i think if you want a more unique name, [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] might not be the one. Still, it is an absolutely lovely name and it fits well with her siblings!! Some middles: [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Vita[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Collette[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is my personal favourite-so starry and bright and lovely- but it doesn’t seem like you love it as much as the others
I think you should stick with your first love, [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] sounds great with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Beau[/name_u]. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] may be a “common” middle name but that’s because it’s beautiful! I think it flows fine your surname, at least not a dealbreaker IMHO.
How about simply “Vee” for a nickname? Like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] but a bit more obvious coming out of [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].
[name_m]Just[/name_m] reading your post, I feel like you love [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] the most. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is not too common for a middle if you love it (plus, you don’t exactly walk around saying “hi, my name is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] Tacorian! What’s yours?” normally), and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] isn’t too much of a stretch from [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] imo. I also love [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] in general
If you are concerned with the possibility of [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and names ending in bella, I would look at other I names or other versions of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. For example, [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Iona[/name_f], [name_f]Ione[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f] or [name_f]Bess[/name_f]
For me [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] share too many sounds - not just the beginning S, but S followed by consonant, and both have t sound. That’s just me though and I do think many people would not worry, and I have certainly come across closer sounding names in siblings so people do it. If [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is your favourite and it doesn’t worry you then I wouldn’t over think it.
I think [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] sounds fine with your last name and goes well with the siblings. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], could be a middle name too. To get to [name_f]Evie[/name_f] my favorite is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].
