I absolutely love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], it is stunning. Go for it!
I voted [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] such a beautiful combo! A cheery nn could be [name_f]Sibby[/name_f]?
I agree with spelling issues with [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and although I love [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] (and that it honours both grandmothers) if your husband isnt that into it you might need to move on (I know it sucks, my husband won’t fully get on board with [name_f]Faye[/name_f] my top girl name:( )
Thank you @findemaxa13 and @gabriellenz! My first reaction to [name_f]Sibby[/name_f] was ‘oh that’s cute’. My 1-year-old can say “bean”, so I think that will be be one definite nickname if we go with [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]. I hear you on moving on from [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. Last pregnancy I thought we’d settled on [name_u]Finn[/name_u] for our boy and cried stupidly for 48 hours when my husband he said he wasn’t sure. It was a surprisingly strong reaction (hormones??) and then I moved on. I’m not quite ready to let go of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] though. I know he’s lukewarm but it’s not a “no”. I feel like I want to sit with it as an option a bit longer. But if it doesn’t work out, I’m not as committed (or emotional!) as last time! It’s also why I’m sitting on [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]–I like it, he likes it, and I’m not ready to give it a hard “no” for the spelling issues.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] checking in with your update and I had a thought: if your husband likes [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and you like [name_f]Oona[/name_f] - have you thought of using [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] with the nickname being [name_f]Oona[/name_f]? Cause I think that’s do-able and just wanted to throw that out there.
(Also [name_f]Oona[/name_f] is really growing on me now.)
And jumping off one of your 3 picks - what about [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] (with nickname [name_f]Maisie[/name_f])?
I haven’t actually voted on the new options yet - later!
I voted for [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], but had a hard time choosing between that and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]. I love both names. Spelling concerns are the only reason for giving first name [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] the edge, but I doubt it would be much more than an annoyance.
voted for Aoife Sabine - I like the flow and the look of this combo most.
To be fair, people can learn how to pronounce and spell Aoife. I grew up in a really multi-cultural city where there’s always someone with a more unique & foreign name that people had to learn - and you know, people around them will learn. Maybe not every person you cross, but definitely anyone with regular contact should & will adapt. And can learn to like. Kids especially will adapt fast. (Though some will never quite, it’s true.)
In addition, she could always choose to go with her middle name if she prefers. (My little sister does this.)
For the choice and combination, I think Aoife Sabine is my fave.
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] bleeds together, imho. Sounds kind of like a double-barrelled Southern name, actually!
I agree with thatsamore, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] would be really cute! But I also like plain [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is a really sweet name.
I also love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]! Where I live, I don’t think the spelling would be an issue as there are plenty of families with Irish background.
I am biased because [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is one of my absolute favorite names, but I love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]. [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] also sound amazing together.
Not sure if this has already been vetoed but thatsamore mentioned [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], or what about Maevie? [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is a gorgeous standalone name and then she can be [name_f]Mae[/name_f], Maevie, or something that has the same vibe as [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] while she’s younger/as a family nickname.
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] is by far the coolest and will suit a girl and a woman. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is cute but a bit cutsie. The spelling issue with [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] will get tiresome I fear. Would [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] be an option for the surprising and fun middle.
