When did you cave in and give your son his first haircut?
Also, did it cause him to lose all his strength?

Holy mother of awesome…
Annnnd on that note, most of my friends with boys left it until the hair started getting in the way length wise, in front of their eyes and such. Some of them it was sooner rather than later. (My nephew is almost a year with no hair cut, my friends baby NEEDED one at 5 months!) Personally I love fluffy baby hair and lots of it, they look so much more grown up after first hair cuts
First of all, awwww!!
Secondly, my godson is three and has yet to have a haircut. It’s long, wavy and adorable!
Please don’t cut [name]Antoine[/name]'s hair, everytime I see your signature I see him (well, as I picture him (which is cute as a button!)) bouncing up and down with his golden curls.
Very funny, [name]Blade[/name]. Gave me a good laugh.
I don’t remember; my son is ten years old and my memory is failing. I think I cut it short when he was very young because after having three girls, I wanted him to look most definitely like a boy.
No, but his name isn’t [name]Samson[/name].
My friend’s little brother didn’t get his hair cut until he was pushing two-and-a-half or so. He had such cute golden girls (it actually made him look like a girl) it was sort of a shame to see them go. We’d ask him where his curls went and he’d shrug and go “Gone!” or we’d ask him who took them and he said “Cop!!!” lol…they sort of regretted cutting it because the curls won’t come back and his hair went from blonde to a dark brown color…he needed it though! His parents hated that we could braid it;)
I think we did the first haircut at about 12 months for our boys. They didn’t have strong opinions on the issue, as far as I can remember. Now, when [name]James[/name] was four and I accidentally buzzed him too closely (it was my first try at giving anybody a haircut–husband usually does it, for good reason), he was devastated and insisted on wearing a hat to preschool (he did look a little ridiculous). Poor kid!
My best friend has 3 younger brothers and their mom wanted their hair long, but after a particularly traumatic bubblegum lollipop incident, she gave them all buzz cuts. Personally, I am going to cut [name]Rowan[/name]'s hair whenever it gets too painful to brush because of tangles. I think it really depends on the hair type, a friend of mine has a 2 year old and he’s had his hair cut 3 or 4 times already because he is half [name]Black[/name], so his hair is extremely thick and curly.
We didn’t cut our son’s hair until he was almost 18-months-old. I didn’t want to cut it because he was so flipping cute (even if he did get mistaken for a girl ALL the time, but that actually still happens, which is weird), and I loved the curls. But at the same time, I knew we were going to have to cut it because it was getting so long that it was in his eyes and the way it was growing, we couldn’t do anything to keep it out. So my husband cut it one night while giving him his bath. I was relieved that he had taken the decision out of my hands, but a little sad that I wasn’t there for his first hair cut. And then I was even more sad because he looked like a completely different baby – actually, he looked like a big kid! It made him look so much older, and his hair got thicker overnight it seemed – no more baby fine blonde-ish hair. It was sad, but he’s just cute in a different way now, and it was going to have to happen eventually … but I do kind of wish we had been able to wait a bit longer. I love long hair on little boys.
We got our twins hair cut at about 10 months old because I’m not a fan of boys with long hair however I do think it suits some but I don’t think it would work with our boys.
I didn’t cut [name]Dom[/name]'s hair for the first time until about 14 months because I wanted to keep the little blonde curls for his 1 year pictures…
Once his bangs got long enough to where they were constantly in his eyes I finally gave in and trimmed them. I tend to be more willing to cut a bit of length off of the back but I’ve always left his bangs as long as possible. At 3.5 he’s yet to have had a real “boy” haircut because I’m just too attatched to it, haha. I’m pretty sure it won’t ever be short until he personally asks for it. =]
we have a ways to go yet.
Oh my loveliness, he is just as divinely cute as I’ve imagined him to be!!!
thanks ottilie
Oh my god, he is so adorable! Chubby, chubby cheeks and ginger hair! I don’t think he needs a haircut yet.
[name]How[/name] absolutely precious - please do let that beautiful hair grow!
Oh my gosh he is so perfectly adorable! Never cut those curls ever, haha. =]
Oh my lord! He is SO CUTE!!! He definitely does not need a haircut (and probably won’t for a while)! So so adorable. There really are no words. Thanks for sharing – I just can’t help but smile.
Thanks all. I want to prolong the curls as long as possible-- like most everyone said, I’ll cut them when they become a nuisance to him.
Goodie!
My godson is mistaken for a girl all the time, you might want to cut it before it gets to that. But [name]Antoine[/name] looks like a boy, so it might not ever be an issue for him.
