What do you think of [name]Forest[/name] and [name]Sterling[/name] on girls?
I know that there will be a lot of knee-jerk hatred because they’re boys’ names on girls. I’m not generally a fan of boys’ names on girls, but unlike a lot of people here I don’t find them to be a cardinal sin, and I don’t mind and can even like them in some instances. These are two such instances that I’ve been tossing around in my head lately.
I can sort of see it because they’re not widely used on boys exactly. [name]Forest[/name] might even be ready for the jump because I feel like [name]Forrest[/name] will have a bit of a block on it for boys because of Gump (even though [name]Forrest[/name] is a great name). [name]Sterling[/name] works but I would so much prefer [name]Starling[/name] for a girl because of little star meaning and the bird (I wouldn’t use it, nms, but I would like it if I saw it, I think).
[name]Sterling[/name] I can actually sort of see on a girl, and I am one of those that is adamantly against unisex names on girls. I saw the combo [name]Lena[/name] [name]Sterling[/name] a while ago and it’s stuck with me the whole time, I think it’s just so stunning. Usually I wouldn’t consider it for a girl, but I love the meaning “little star” (which could work for a girl), and I still really like [name]Lena[/name] [name]Sterling[/name].
I can’t really imagine [name]Forrest[/name] on a girl, though–it doesn’t sound feminine to me at all.
I’m with jesba, I think the similar [name]Starling[/name] should definitely switch. [name]Sterling[/name] probably could go to the girls though it disappoints me to see another one of my pets go unisex. [name]Forest[/name] I don’t care about but I can’t see it on a girl at all. But then I still can’t quite grasp [name]Harper[/name] so [name]Forest[/name] is probably prime material!
