I voted for [name_m]Florin[/name_m] because I like the sound of it best. [name_m]Forest[/name_m] reminds me too much of [name_m]Forest[/name_m] Gump (which would get a lot of teasing in my family, hopefully yours isn’t the same way.)
It was a toss up between [name_m]Florin[/name_m] and [name_m]Forest[/name_m]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are very handsome names. I very slightly prefer [name_m]Florin[/name_m] over [name_m]Forest[/name_m].
I chose [name_m]Florin[/name_m]. I’ve never heard of the name, but it reminds me of [name_m]Torin[/name_m] and [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], both of which I love.
I love [name_m]Forest[/name_m] and the imagery that goes with it. I’ve never met anyone named [name_m]Forest[/name_m], so I do wonder how strong the [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Gump association is when the name is attached to an actual person rather than when you’re considering the concept of a person named [name_m]Forest[/name_m]. Lately I’ve been liking [name_m]Forest[/name_m] as a middle name for a girl, but I think it’s excellent for a boy as well.
1 [name_m]Florin[/name_m]
2 [name_m]Forest[/name_m]
3 [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
I think [name_u]Florian[/name_u] is wonderful too!
Thanks for the responses everyone!
balloonsforellie - [name_m]Forest[/name_m] does remind me of the movie/character [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Gump but I don’t think children his age would know that reference as well as we do. I probably won’t have children for another few years. Thanks for commenting!
lovemysweeties - I agree with you, [name_m]Forest[/name_m] and [name_m]Florin[/name_m] are almost equal in my mind. It’s very difficult & the poll isn’t helping much.
emsky - I also love names ending with -an, -en, -in, -on, etc. I am a little hesitant about having [name_m]Florin[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] on my list, that’s why I chose [name_m]Forest[/name_m] initially.
southern.maple - I love the imagery with [name_m]Forest[/name_m] too, it’s stronger than the imagery for [name_m]Florin[/name_m] and [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]. I just read a thread about [name_m]Forest[/name_m] nn [name_f]Estie[/name_f] for a girl and I really like it. NMS but it could totally work.
mischa - thank you for ranking them. Comments are telling me [name_m]Florin[/name_m] but votes are saying [name_m]Forest[/name_m], this is hard.
Side note, do you think [name_m]Florin[/name_m] nn [name_u]Finn[/name_u] could work or is too much of a stretch? It would be used occasionally at home but mostly he’d be called [name_m]Florin[/name_m]. Thoughts?
Any other thoughts or suggestions? Feedback on using [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as a nn for [name_m]Florin[/name_m]? I appreciate it!
I vote [name_m]Florin[/name_m], but I am biased as my little [name_m]Florin[/name_m] is an utter delight <3 We’ve only had lovely reception to his name which I was slightly hesitant to use given it’s not so common but everyone has said great things!
I love [name_m]Forest[/name_m]! A handsome name and great imagery.
(Personally I thought of [name_m]Forest[/name_m] [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] before [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Gump).
[name_m]Forest[/name_m] [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] was who I thought of too.
I like [name_m]Forest[/name_m] and voted for it.
The other F name I really like is [name_m]Finnian[/name_m].
I’ve known a boy since childhood named [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]. He always wore it well. I really loved the name, I even used [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] as a middle name for my son.
I know the movie [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Gump of course, but since I had two associations on my own my thoughts never went to the movie character until it was mentioned in the comments.
I love [name_m]Forest[/name_m]. I didn’t think of Gump until other people mentioned it, and I don’t think I would when it was attached to an actual person either. [name_m]Florin[/name_m] is quirky and sweet but a little feminine sounding somehow. [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] is the opposite - super masculine! I did think of [name_f]Pink[/name_f] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m].
