Forest or Alder?

Hello! Back again. Pregnant with #4 and if it’s a boy I thought we had probably decided on Forest (it would have been my name if I was a boy) but a visit to a forest full of Alder trees this weekend renewed my love of the name Alder. We have a long time before we have to decide, but which do you prefer with

Olive Claire
Fern Mabel

Forest Paul
Alder Paul

(Paul is a tribute name) Edited to add, I don’t love Paul with Alder so we might pick another middle.

Both names are nice but I think I slightly prefer [name_u]Forest[/name_u] :blush:

Both names are really nice, but I prefer [name_u]Forest[/name_u] [name_m]Paul[/name_m], as [name_m]Abel[/name_m] and [name_u]Alder[/name_u] are too similar IMO. [name_f]Fern[/name_f] and [name_u]Forest[/name_u] only share the initial, while [name_m]Abel[/name_m] and [name_u]Alder[/name_u] share three letters, two being the only vocals they have in the same order.

I really like [name_u]Forest[/name_u] with your sibset. Plus he gets his own initial

As much as I absolutely adore [name_u]Alder[/name_u], I think I’d stick with [name_u]Forest[/name_u] in this case.

[name_u]Alder[/name_u] shares so many letters with [name_m]Abel[/name_m] and the first syllable is pronounced the same as in [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. [name_u]Forest[/name_u] does share the first initial with [name_f]Fern[/name_f], but the rest of the sounds are very different, so you’re less likely to get tongue-tied.

Really both names are so beautiful. I love your style!

I adore [name_u]Forest[/name_u] so that would be my pick but [name_u]Alder[/name_u] is nice too

I like both, have never met either, but [name_u]Alder[/name_u] is wonderful. They are beautiful trees.

Thanks, all! I think I lean SLIGHTLY toward [name_u]Forest[/name_u], but my husband (who usually doesn’t have strong opinions) is actually really loving [name_u]Alder[/name_u] which makes me like it even more, even with the drawbacks. I’ll have to mull it over and see which one feels right. (And I’m sure I’ll be back with a middle name opinion post at some point!)

I prefer Forest; I think it goes very well with siblings and is very handsome!

I really like [name_u]Alder[/name_u] the best, though it is kind of close to [name_m]Abel[/name_m]. It’s such a lovely name!
