I am currently in love with [name_u]Forever[/name_u], though only as a middle name. What are your thoughts; is it too out there or is it usable in some way? And if so, what first name would you pair it with? So curious to hear everyone’s thoughts/opinions. ![]()
I personally wouldn’t, but I’m a lot more traditional than a lot of people on here.
Middle name can be anything you want.
This.
[name_u]Forever[/name_u] strikes me as being like [name_f]Princess[/name_f]. [name_m]Way[/name_m] too frilly and child-like as a name.
Thank you all
Anyone else?
I think it may be a little much and I’m a big fan of unusual/unique names. Perhaps you should look into names that mean forever. I’m sure there are beautiful names that mean forever, without being quite so literal. [name_f]Remember[/name_f],even if it’s just a mn your baby has to live with it.
I think you can use whatever you like in the middle (within reason).
The trouble with [name_u]Forever[/name_u] is it automatically makes a name sounds like a sentence - [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Forever[/name_u]. It’s what a romantic young boy might scribble in his notebook when he can’t get pretty [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] out of his head…
Or at least that’s what it sounds like to me!
Also avoid [name_u]Forever[/name_u] if you have a last name that is an adjective! e.g. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Forever[/name_u] [name_u]Green[/name_u].
I agree with freddiethepink, I think it’s unusable for that reason.
While I think [name_u]Forever[/name_u] is rather frivolous, [name_u]Ever[/name_u] would be a lovely option. Same idea, but not as profoundly wordy.
I’ve been using two tests to measure the wearability of potential names for my daughter: 1. The First Lady: Does the name work when subbed in for the name of a president’s wife? Mrs. [name_u]Forever[/name_u] [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m], Mrs. [name_u]Forever[/name_u] [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], etc. 2. The professor test: would I giggle when asking a question in class? ¨[name_u]Forever[/name_u], will the study guide for the next exam be posted by Friday?¨ ¨Excuse me, [name_u]Forever[/name_u], could you repeat that last date?¨ etc.
I want to avoid giving my daughter a name that might sound cute now, but not so much when she is being called back by the nurse for her gynecologist appointment: ¨[name_u]Forever[/name_u] for Dr. Stroud!¨ It’s up to you to decide if [name_u]Forever[/name_u] passes the test for you. Good luck!
I’m only considering it as a middle, not as a first
I think it’s fine in the middle
The only thing that would rule it out is if your last name is a word name. Who wants to be [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_u]Forever[/name_u] [name_m]Hardy[/name_m]? Also, my personal taste is if
you are going to use a really unique middle you should lean toward a more traditional first.
From the title, I thought you were lamenting that some name would be forever used as a middle.
Well, [name_f]Romona[/name_f] is out.
[name_u]Forever[/name_u] is ok. It strikes me as old fashioned and pilgrim-ish… But it’s a little heavy-handed, like its sisters [name_f]Obedience[/name_f], Killsin and Help-on-High. There is a reason some of those word/virtue names went the way of the dodo.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Horatia[/name_f] (from [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] - “hours”)
Semper (“always” in Latin)
[name_f]Timea[/name_f] (tim-ee-ah - not at all related to “forever,” but it contains “time.”
[name_f]Fortuna[/name_f] (goddess of fate)
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]/[name_f]Constanza[/name_f]
I’ll be honest: I think it’s too much, even as a middle.
