Has ACOTAR forever ruined Amarantha as a usable name??
Yep! Forever ruined…
Nah… it’s just a phase!
Kind of, but it’s redeemable…
Errr… What’s ACOTAR??

I ask because this name is kind of a vibe, and ticks a lot of our boxes, but yeah… iykyk… It feels like the bookish equivalent of liking the name Adolf (or similar)!
I believe ACOTAR is an acronym for A [name_m]Court[/name_m] Of Thorns And Roses, a book series by [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] J Mass. I personally haven’t read it, but it’s got a good sized fanbase.
Answering the question, I don’t think majority of people would connect the name [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f] with the character. It’s a really pretty name!
I’ve not heard of the book series, but I’d say that unless it became the next [name_u]Harry[/name_u] Potter/Twilight you’re probably safe. I don’t know what the character is like but if they’re a baddie it’s up to you if it affects your perception of the name. You may get the odd question from someone ‘oh like in book?’ but I don’t think it’s going to be like [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] or [name_f]Renesmee[/name_f] and be linked to the series by the wider general population.
I’ve heard of ACOTAR and I’ve read Throne of Glass by the same author but I have no idea why [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f] would be bad. Besides the big nasty villain in ToG is named [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and everyone still uses that
Unless you’re an avid reader, you won’t know what ACOTAR is. It’s on my to-read list! I don’t think it’s forever marred, the book appeals to only a certain group of people (fantasy lovers) so it won’t be widely known.
ive never read ACOTAR (well, not beyond the first 3ish chapters) but im familiar with booktok and bookstagram, and I wouldn’t have known [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f] was an ACOTAR name.
