Formal Name?

I adore Leni/Lenni/Lennie for a girl but we tend to like more “formal” names with nickname options. Any ideas for a longer name to get to [name_f]Leni[/name_f]? Stretchy names welcome!

For reference, we have a Max(well) and he would likely have been [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] if he were a girl.

Thanks!

I love the idea of [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] “Leni”!

A lot of the formal name suggestions you’ve got already are beautiful, but the thing I would say to keep in mind about choosing a formal name is the more intuitive nicknames already there. You could name her [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for example and call her [name_f]Leni[/name_f], but there’s a good chance people might end up calling her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and that might stick once they know her full name is [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. This could be moreso avoided by keeping [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] a “secret” and only referring to her as [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and putting [name_f]Leni[/name_f] as the preferred name on every document, but then what’s the point of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? And then there’s also the issue of what if she likes [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] more?

I’d say if you’re looking for a formal name, choose one where [name_f]Leni[/name_f] is the most obvious nickname. People find intuitive nicknames moreso at the start of a name. E.g. most would find [name_f]Leni[/name_f] more intuitive for [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] than [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is on my list with the nn [name_f]Leni[/name_f]. But I’ve also seriously considered these:

[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]

[name_f]Leni[/name_f]! Such a pretty name! hmm…

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] (definitely second this!)
[name_f]Elina[/name_f]

[name_f]Helena[/name_f]

[name_f]Malena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Alena[/name_f]

hope this helps!

[name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Lennon[/name_f]
Lenae
[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]

All great ideas! I don’t think anyone said [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] yet. :cupid:

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are great too!

[name_f]Solenne[/name_f] or Solenna spring to mind also

I absolutely love [name_f]Lennon[/name_f] on a girl, so I have to suggest this one

[name_f]My[/name_f] fave [name_f]Leni[/name_f] name is [name_f]Helena[/name_f]!

Another vote for [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]. [name_f]Or[/name_f] I think [name_f]Leni[/name_f] on its own would be lovely.
