Forrester

I love the name [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]/[name_m]Forester[/name_m]. This feels like it could be The Name to me. (We are not expecting yet, but obviously as I am interested in names, they are something we have started discussing already.) Anyway, as I’d started really considering this name, and discussing with my SO, it dawned on me that using the name [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] would give a potential son the first and last initials of F.U. And I just don’t think I can do that to a child. So I have two questions,

  1. Is it usable as a middle name? FirstName [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] U. Or is the F.U. still too obvious?

  2. What are names like [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]? Same sound or same style? I’d love suggestions, because I don’t know if there’s any one boys name I love quite like [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]. You can see other loves of mine in my signature to give you a bit of an idea of my style…

So sad over losing one of my favourite names

I think it’s usuable, but probably better as a first name than a middle because then the F and U wouldn’t be right after the other.

Similar to [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]:
[name_m]Gunnar[/name_m]
[name_m]Clayton[/name_m]
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_u]Reed[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Walker[/name_u]

I’m not someone who places a ton of emphasis on initials, and it sounds like this is the name you love - for good reason! [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] is an awesome name for a baby, child, and adult.

So with that being said…FU is not the worst initials ever, but not the best obviously. One or two middle names would break it up - FXU FXXU is not so obvious. You could hyphenate (ie. [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]-[name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u]-[name_m]Forrester[/name_m]). Or you could just decide to overlook it. Not a whole lot of people would realize unless you pointed it out to them.

I like PPs suggestions too though. But I’m not sure initials is worth giving up your favourite name over?

I honestly don’t think it should matter, like the pp. said breaking the initials up with a middle name will help too. I say go with the name if you love it

Thank you for all the positive replies! Maybe I am overthinking it/over sensative. I am a little reluctant to bring the issue up to my SO yet, because he’s generally quite conservative in his name tastes and opinions, so I’m afraid he might take this initials thing as an excuse to flat out reject the name . So I want to get used to the idea a bit, and get a general opinion and know how it will be recieved by the general public!
So far I’m keeping it on the list, but I’m open to more opinions and suggestions

I wouldn’t want those initials. Middle names aren’t always known so to try to separate the F and U by a middle would be irrelevant because most people would know your initials would be FU. What about First name [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] second middle U… Like [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] [name_u]North[/name_u] U… MFNU or [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_m]Forrester[/name_m] [name_u]Sky[/name_u] U BFSU just to give you an idea.

Reminds me of the line in The Odd Couple: “It took me 3 hours to realize that f.U. stood for [name_m]Felix[/name_m] Unger.”

Also, they make a point of it with [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Underwood on House of Cards.

In both, it’s good for a line and is then quickly forgotten about. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I think if you really love it just don’t plan on monograming anything. at least with initials they are not widely used unless people chose to use them. you could do it as a middle name instead, or have a middle that you always use if you’re putting initials on something.
