Foster

We have decided on [name]Foster[/name] [name]Michael[/name] for our baby if it is a boy - long story, basically our first date involved someone named [name]Foster[/name]! - and we think it’s a neat, unusual name.

I’m starting to have a few second thoughts about the name because I am a little bit worried about teasing.

[name]Do[/name] you think that [name]Foster[/name] is a name that will be an “easy target?” I go back and forth - I feel like there are so many unusual names now, esp. where we live in Northern [name]CA[/name]. But I would hate to saddle our son with a name he will hate!

I really like [name]Foster[/name]! It’s really grown on me. However I can understand you worrying about him being made fun of. I don’t think it would be a big issue and [name]Foster[/name] is such a handsome name.

[name]Foster[/name] is an awesome name. I really like it. But I think that yes, he might get teased about being a foster child. Kids can be so cruel! Maybe use as a middle??

Honestly, I grew up in foster care and it’s the first thing I think when I see [name]Foster[/name].

But I know that isn’t most people’s first association with the name. If you love it, use it.

I think the foster-child association is definitely something to think about with this one.

Not sure if it’s just me, but the first thing I thought of when I saw [name]Foster[/name] was the nursery rhyme ("[name]Doctor[/name] [name]Foster[/name] went to Gloucester
in a shower of rain…")

[name]Foster[/name] is cute. I didn’t know what you were talking about as far as teasing with this name until others pointed it out. I wouldn’t worry about it. I think of [name]Foster[/name] [name]Grant[/name] sunglasses when I hear the name [name]Foster[/name],not foster care.

It could lead to some teasting. It makes me think of foster care and I’m sure many people will make that association. Maybe use it as a mn?

I love the name foster! I didn’t think of foster care at all when I heard it…but, I did think of the slogan “[name]Foster[/name]'s Australian for beer”. However, children on the playground shouldn’t be too familiar with beer ads, so you should be okay!

If you are in the US, kids will make that foster care association. I used to work with kids.

I just read a book called [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Foster[/name]…about this very subject. I wouldn’t of thought about the foster care association if I hadn’t just read this. Fabulous book by the way, you should read it.
