Today my husband and I found out we are having a little girl and now that we know the sex we are on the hunt for the perfect name for her. This baby will be our first so we are treading lightly as we feel that what we name her will set the tone for any future children’s names.
On our way back from the clinic we discussed some names and here they are:
His choices are [name_f]India[/name_f]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] and mine are [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].
We also both really like [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]/[name_f]Jessamina[/name_f] but hate the nicknames [name_u]Jess[/name_u] or [name_u]Jessie[/name_u] but we love [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] or [name_f]Mina[/name_f] as a nickname but to be honest we love the flow of [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f] and would rarely use a nickname if we did go with this name.
I would love to hear anybody’s thoughts on our two lists. Also, which do you prefer [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f]?
I prefer [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]. [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is such an adorable nickname for it! I think [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] is a good choice for you both since it lands between his pick of [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] and your pick of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] but [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is an appealing combo to me for some reason.
I don’t care for [name_u]Jess[/name_u]-beginning names, but I love the sound of [name_f]India[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], or [name_f]Flora[/name_f].
I agree with the user above: I prefer [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] and the nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is adorable! And as she stated, you both like it and it seems like a nice compromise.
From your list, I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].

[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]/[name_f]Jessamina[/name_f] sounds like it could be the name for you! It is so pretty. I slightly prefer [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f], because it is so long and elegant and flowing! [name_f]Mina[/name_f] is a really cute nickname.
You both have nice, solid lists. I like all your names, except [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. My favourites are [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. All the best!
Between the two, [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] is my favorite, although neither are my cup of tea. From your husband’s list, my favorite is [name_f]Indie[/name_f]/[name_f]India[/name_f]. [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is my preference and has been on my list for a while! From yours, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is my favorite. I think [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is super duper cute, unique and also trendy in a way.
I agree with a PP, I don’t care for jess-beginning names, but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Indie[/name_f], [name_f]India[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].
[name_f]India[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are all lovely choices. But I love [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]! Especially with nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. (Not fond of [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f], though, personally.)
I think [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] is lovely and [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is a cute nn if you decided to use one. I’m not found of [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f], but I really don’t tend to like most of the -ina names. I much prefer the -ine ending. You could feasibly pull [name_u]Sammy[/name_u] as a nn from [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] if you wanted to as well, although it’s not the most intuitive. JJ is also another possible nn if she ends up being more of a tomboy or just preferring a less feminine nn. =]
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Indie[/name_f]/[name_f]India[/name_f] or [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], but I do love [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I just think it’s spunky and cute. One of the few “spunky” names I like. haha I also like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. I honestly think [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] is the way to go, though. As a pp poster said, it’s a perfect meet-in-the-middle for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f].

Between [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] and [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Mina[/name_f] as a nickname, if you were to use one. It has so much class and grace.

[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] make great combos too.
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], “[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]” is a fabulous choice. I personally prefer straight [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], but I agree that in this case, [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] is such a perfect midpoint between your styles. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t hesitate for one minute if both you and your husband love it.
I agree with what others have said–[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]/[name_f]Jessamina[/name_f] sounds like the perfect name for you–it combines both your styles and it sounds like you both really like it (all naming should be so easy ). I like [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] better as a full name, myself, but I do love the nickname [name_f]Mina[/name_f] with [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f]. If you wanted to commonly use a nickname I’d say go for [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f], but since you said you’d probably use the full name more, I suggest [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]. Three syllables rather than four seems less likely to be shortened into a nickname, and personally, I like the overall look and sound of [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] just a bit more.
The only downside I see here depends on just how much you “hate” the possibility of [name_u]Jess[/name_u]/[name_u]Jessie[/name_u] as a nickname, because realistically, that is a possibility. Certainly in your family, and when she’s young, you could ask others to use her full name or nicknames [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]/[name_f]Mina[/name_f] (both are so sweet!), but there is a stage at which she will take over control of her name/nickname herself, and [name_u]Jess[/name_u] and [name_u]Jessie[/name_u] are pretty intuitive nickname possibilities with this name. In my opinion, though, it would be a shame to let an otherwise perfect name go by just because of the potential of a less-preferred nickname.
Out of the other names on your lists, I like them all except [name_f]India[/name_f]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f] is not to my taste, and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is my least favorite from your list. Overall, I think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] are my favorites from your respective lists, and I think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] would work best as potential middle names for [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f].
