So I’m down to four favorite names and figured out two amazing nicknames for two of them. As you all know at this point I have a son named [name]Jesse[/name]. It’s extremely hard to find names that go with his name!!
The two nicknames I’ve come up with are:
[name]Fiona[/name] [name]Frances[/name] - nickname [name]Frankie[/name]. ([name]Frank[/name] is my husband’s name)
[name]Vivian[/name] [name]Louise[/name] - nickname [name]Annie[/name] ([name]Ann[/name] is my middle name)
We’ve all determined that [name]Vivian[/name] doesn’t really go well with [name]Jesse[/name], but I think [name]Annie[/name] goes great!
Question: [name]Do[/name] you think it would work then? [name]Jesse[/name] & [name]Vivian[/name] a/k/a [name]Annie[/name]?
It’s just that every time I picture my daughter the name [name]Vivian[/name] always pops up!!! Is that a sign or can I just not let this name go?
Then there’s [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. I thought it would be really cute if her nickname was [name]Frankie[/name], after my husband. And [name]Jesse[/name] & [name]Frankie[/name] are ADORABLE!
[name]Do[/name] you like the nickname [name]Frankie[/name] on a girl? I’m a little afraid it’s too…boyish.
Please let me know what you think!! I love hearing feedback from you guys! Nobody ever wants to talk about baby names with me, I’m glad I have you guys!!
Well, [name]Frankie[/name]'s cute but I sure wouldn’t want to be called this if my Dad’s name was [name]Frank[/name]. Too much “daddy’s little girl” which isn’t always the healthiest thing…I nearly was named [name]Georgette[/name] after my father who was [name]George[/name] so I could be [name]Georgie[/name], and throughout my entire childhood and adult life so far I’ve always been so, so thankful it didn’t go that way, that my parents had more sense.
I love [name]Vivian[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]! Very sweet, and I agree, it goes well with [name]Jesse[/name]. [name]Fiona[/name] is sweet, and I like it–I’m guessing you’re taking [name]Frankie[/name] from [name]Frances[/name], not [name]Fiona[/name]? I think it’d be easier to do [name]Frances[/name] [name]Fiona[/name] then. [name]Frankie[/name]‘s not my thing at all for a girl, but then again, I’m just generally not a fan of common boys’ nicknames on girls ([name]Sam[/name], [name]Nic/name, [name]Alex[/name], [name]Pat[/name], etc.). The only ones I really like are [name]Georgie[/name] and [name]Leni[/name]. But there’s nothing wrong with it, especially since she has [name]Frances[/name] to fall back on. I do think [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Frankie[/name] could be a bit confusing, but I know you really love [name]Frank[/name]/[name]Frankie[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think it’d be distinct enough? My dad was always [name]John[/name], and my brother [name]Johnny[/name], but my dad would never answer to his real name because he assumed my mom was calling my brother. haha. [name]Do[/name] you think that could be a problem for you guys?
I’m not too keen on [name]Vivian[/name], but [name]Frankie[/name] is adorable! It goes so well with [name]Jesse[/name] and [name]Fiona[/name] is a really beautiful name too. I would definitely go for [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Frances[/name].
I think you need to pick a name you [name]LOVE[/name], whether or not it “goes” with [name]Jesse[/name]! Your children will be individuals…but no matter what, they’ll “go” together, because they’ll be siblings! If you love [name]Vivian[/name], and picture it on your daughter, use it! [name]Annie[/name] is adorable. [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is also great - sounds spunky and sophisticated, and I love the alliteration. I don’t think you could go wrong with either choice…maybe wait until you meet her!
Also, I think [name]Frankie[/name] is really cute on a girl (I like [name]Francie[/name] too).
I agree with claireelise; your children will be their own people much longer than they will be defined as one of your children; how many times have you met someone and reacted to their name according to what their siblings’ names are (if you know them at all)? [name]Just[/name] give your daughter a beautiful name that she deserves.
