I posted this earlier but keep getting suggestions that don’t follow the guidelines I put so I figured I’d post again and make it clearer. We’ve decided we want one more child and for girls’ names, we’re stuck because all the names we like don’t fit in with siblings’ names. Guidelines we’d like to follow;
not two syllables - since my daughters are [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Felicity[/name], another two syllable name would make [name]Felicity[/name] stand out I think
not ending in ‘ee’ sound - since [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] end in ‘ee’, I don’t want to leave [name]Violet[/name] out
not starting with A, J, C, V, F, or I (because of siblings [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Christian[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], and [name]Isaac[/name])
same style as sibling names - something that fits well with [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Jude[/name] [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Christian[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name], [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
There are a bunch of names that I love but don’t work for one reason or another;
[name]Cora[/name] - same letter as [name]Christian[/name] and is two syllables
[name]Sadie[/name] - two syllables and ends in ‘ee’ sound
[name]Scarlett[/name] - two syllables and two close to [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Molly[/name] - two syllables and ends in ‘ee’
[name]Eloise[/name] nn [name]Elsie[/name] - two syllables, ends in ‘ee’, and too close to [name]Felicity[/name] nn [name]Lissie[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] - along with all the nicknames from it, ends in ‘ee’
[name]Matilda[/name] - just don’t like it, as much as I wish I did
Firstly, I wouldn’t worry about #1 & 2 very much since you do have boys as well. I don’t think anyone will feel left out based on syllables, but I can understand not wanting another ee sound.
In such a large sibset a repeating initial isn’t that noticeable. Also, consider the boys’ names- another ee or 2-syllable name would be okay if you do, I think. Would you really be calling [name]JUST[/name] all the girls and not the boys fairly frequently? (I don’t have real life experience with this but it doesn’t seem like a problem)
Names that break your criteria but seem like your style:
[name]Julia[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
I would say that it makes more sense to me to pick your favourite name rather than settle for one that meets criteria.
I like previous posters’ suggestions of [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] best for you. [name]Madeline[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name] also fit well in the sibset. You have a very cohesive, elegant style!
I’m loving [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Philippa[/name] and [name]Natalia[/name]. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I wonder what DH would think of a little [name]Pippa[/name] or [name]Talia[/name].
[name]Leona[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Elowen[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name] (apparently I like E and L names for you!) were the names that sprung to mind first, considering your requirements, and your other beautifully named children.
