[name_m]Hi[/name_m] There,
We are expecting our fourth baby in 5 weeks or so. Already we have 2 girls Éabha (Irish for [name_f]Eve[/name_f] but prn [name_f]Ava[/name_f]) and [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Our boy is Ruán (Irish again, prn Roo-on). This little one is a girl… We had pretty much decided on [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but friends got there before us a couple of weeks ago:-( I still love it but hubby thinks we should go with something else and I kind of agree… only other name I’m loving is [name_f]Maia[/name_f] but hubby unsure…
Other possible contenders
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
Hubby loves Beibhínn (prn [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-veen) I’ve tried but just don’t love it.
Would be really grateful for some other suggestions, thanks:-)
Are you in the US? If so, I’d go with [name_f]Molly[/name_f] or [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of names that the child will always have to pronounce, so Beibhínn is out for me, if you’re in the U.S.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your children’s names! That really stinks that your friend named their daughter [name_f]Freya[/name_f] because the name fits perfectly with your current 3.
Here are some suggestions…
[name_f]Siobhan[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Livinia[/name_f]/[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aileen[/name_f]
Ailey
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_u]Elia[/name_u]
[name_u]Ilia[/name_u]
[name_f]Iona[/name_f]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Farrah[/name_f]
I’m not going to suggest Irish names as I’m sure you’ve thought of all those. So a few out-of-the-box ideas that complement but don’t cross too closely with your other children’s lovely names:
Thanks everyone,
We’re in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] so could pull off the difficult to pronounce Irish names but have been over and over them & nothing is jumping out. Any of the more well known Irish names that we like are really popular & would just prefer something a bit off radar.
I do like [name_f]Nela[/name_f] or [name_f]Neala[/name_f] but it’s really a variant of surname McNeala here which puts hubby off.
[name_f]Bella[/name_f] & [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] are daughters of friends so kinda rules them out too.
The thing that worries me about [name_f]Maia[/name_f] is the emphasis on sound ‘[name_f]My[/name_f]’ when our middle daughter already has emphasis on ‘I’ - as in the pronouns I and [name_f]My[/name_f] - not sure if I’m reading too much into that though?
Hmm how about [name_u]Shannon[/name_u]? It is my name and I have always loved it! I know it is quite longer than any of your children’s names. I know it’s a place name but my dad got the inspiration for the name from the song [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] Doah. I briefly had the nn [name_u]Shay[/name_u]/[name_u]Shae[/name_u] but now I sometimes go by [name_f]Shanna[/name_f]. Usually it is just [name_u]Shannon[/name_u]. I know it’s popularity has gone down, but i am biased and still think it’s a lovely name.
I do think the ‘I’ sounds in both [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Maia[/name_f] are too prominent to be sisters. Which is unfortunate because [name_f]Maia[/name_f] is lovely.
And one last suggestion. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]? With the nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] or [name_f]Lena[/name_f]?
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f]! Such a lovely name. I’m in the US, and if I weren’t positive that everyone I know/live around would mispronounce it at first, I’d use it.
Thanks for suggestions. Róisín is lovely but we know about 10 little róisín’s! Same for all of the well known Irish names like [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] & [name_f]Niamh[/name_f].
We’re not necessarily looking for an Irish name as our middle daughter is [name_f]Isla[/name_f] which is Scottish. So maybe something celtic or something 2 syllable pretty & girly to go with what we have already.Hit me with what you have…
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] is still a front runner, how does Éabha, [name_f]Isla[/name_f], Ruán & [name_f]Maia[/name_f] sound?
I still prefer the sound of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and gutted it’s been ruled out for us:-(
