Is it crazy to name a boy just [name]Fox[/name]? I love it. My partner actually likes it too. So I’m wondering. Thanks!
Not crazy at all! Nature and word names are quite popular now. You would give him a middle name, right?
Any longer name with [name]Fox[/name] just sounds too stuck up. Foxworth, for example.
[name]Fox[/name] Mulder was a character on a tv show, and the creator is said to have named him after someone he knows.
There was a character on a soap opera named [name]Fox[/name]. Foxworth was his middle and he went by [name]Fox[/name], so that is where I got Foxworth from.
I love it! Names with x in them are popular and have a nice sound. It is not that bizarre to name your son [name]Fox[/name]. It would be bizarre to name your son Canis Vulpes
[name]Fox[/name] sound silly on a person, to be honest.
I see the appeal, but I just worry if you change the vowel a tiny tiny bit you get a naughty word.
I like [name]Fox[/name] as a nickname for [name]Forrest[/name] or [name]Foster[/name].
I really love [name]Fox[/name] - but the way I say it, the way my partner say it, it just sounds really, really rude!
I want to say it’s fine, but in reality I really don’t think it’s usable as a first name. I always think of the animal first, then a ‘fox’ as in someone sexy or alluring (like how people refer to men with grey or greying hair as ‘silver foxes’), and when it’s said quickly, I sometimes wonder if I’m mishearing someone saying ‘f*cks’, not to be crass, just to be honest. Not that the animal is a bad association, but I wouldn’t want someone to associate my kid with the other two things. It could make a fun, spunky middle name though.
It just sounds trendy or faddish ti use for a person’s name for life to me. I think it could be a fine nickname (i could even see it as a nn for [name]Forrest[/name], or some combination like [name]Forrest[/name]/other F name + an S or X name. [name]Forrest[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] comes to mind) but I’m not sure about a formal name, going on diplomas and job applications etc. Plus, tbh if my daughter said she was dating a guy named [name]Fox[/name], I’d not be above prejudging that guy. Not to say a, oh, [name]Michael[/name] can’t be a bad influence, if course, but a name like fox will certainly meet some raised eyebrows. But some people aren’t bothered by that idea, so it’s your call of course
It’s not horrible, I just can’t actually picture it on anyone. It seems like it’s a nickname, and would probably be a really good nickname for many different names. And though I think for a little kid it would work okay, once he gets older, I don’t know if [name]Fox[/name] would work very well in a lot of jobs or just in life. [name]Fox[/name] would be a tricky name for anyone.
[name]Fox[/name] Mulder! 'Nuf said.
No, but seriously, I’ve liked [name]Fox[/name] for a long time. Couldn’t ever quite bring my husband around on it throughout either of our naming ordeals, though.
I love [name]Fox[/name]! What about using it as a middle name, but actually calling him that, and he would have a more formal first name that he could use professionally.
I love [name]Fox[/name]! I find it handsome and totally wearable. Plus, with current naming trends [name]Fox[/name] will stand out in a good way without being so far off base people think it’s ridiculous.
I adore [name]Fox[/name], but I don’t think it can work as a first name. We plan on using it in the mn spot and calling him by his mn.
My mother’s maiden name is [name]Fox[/name] and I always thought it would be neat to name a son [name]Fox[/name].
I don’t think it can work as a first name. It’s just too close to a 4 letter word, especially in toddler speak.
We are considering it for a middle name though for our next.
I’ll admit that when I first heard is as a name (on a tv show about 2 years ago?) I actually hated it. Since then I’ve actually grown to love it, in fact it’s made it’s way on to my list - as a middle name. I do really love nature names and I think [name]Fox[/name] is very handsome, but I definitely think it belongs in the middle, with a bit of a sturdier, more established first name to support it. Personally I just cant picture a teenager or dad or even grandpa being named [name]Fox[/name].
That all being said, if you love it you should use it.
i love fox!
[name]Fox[/name] is on my list I love it for both
I like it. It’s connected via folklore to the name [name]Saul[/name], which I really love, while having a certain edge that is a contrast to the old-fashioned Biblical names I am drawn to that get criticized for being “dusty.” [name]Fox[/name] isn’t dusty! I don’t like it as a middle name though - it just feels surname-y there.
But my husband had loved it until he mentioned it to some people, and they disliked it, and now he’s edging away from it as “too much.”
In a way, it’s a bit much. But in another…it’s just awesome. [name]Fox[/name] is the kind of name I feel like a lot of people wish they had the stones to use. I know a kid named [name]Ace[/name] [name]Factor[/name]. [name]Ace[/name]? [name]Ace[/name] [name]Factor[/name]? Yeah. We’d probably be pretty judgey about it here on Nameberry, but everyone who meets him just thinks it’s awesome. Because it is! [name]Fox[/name] is a pretty awesome name. [name]Even[/name] if it’s a bit much at first, I think your kid will grow into it and embrace the coolness of it.
