Frances or Dorothy, Names for a sister to Margaret and Harriet

We have two daughters who are [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. They go by [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]. We are expecting our third child (surprise gender in [name_u]March[/name_u]). We had originally settled on [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] or [name_f]Franny[/name_f]. But, recently have really been liking the name [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Dot[/name_f], or possibly [name_f]Thea[/name_f] (too much of a stretch?)If we used [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] the middle name would be [name_f]Louise[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].We loved our girls names because of how strong and classic they are but, also because they were slightly neglected. We also really love that their names lend to spunky youthful nicknames. Which name do you prefer with our girls names? Which do you prefer in general?

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]/[name_f]Franny[/name_f]

or

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], and [name_f]Dot[/name_f]/[name_f]Dottie[/name_f]/[name_f]Thea[/name_f]

(Are [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] too close to each other?)

I love [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]! [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is nice too, but [name_f]Frances[/name_f] wins for me

I love [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] - such an underused gem during this vintage name revival. I also kind of like how it fits with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] by keeping the T in there - not the same sound as the sisters, of course, but a subtle connection that’s lacking in [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

[name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], and [name_f]Dot[/name_f] are just too adorable!! Good luck!

I like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]! To me, [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a perfect sister to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] because it is just a bit more feminine in my eyes. [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] aren’t too close to each other, and that first syllable really differentiates them. Also, I think [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] paired with the middle [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is a bit more classic than the (lovely!) [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] is my vote

Ooh this is tough, they’re both great names, and both work well with your daughters’ names (which I love BTW).

If I had to pick one, it’d be [name_f]Frances[/name_f], as when I say the possible sibling sets out loud, I prefer the sound of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

I would go with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. Never been a fan of [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

I vote [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. Not a big fan of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]; I think I just don’t like the sound as much. Your girls have great names!

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is so sweet! It’d make the sibset absolutely stunning

Both sound good with sisters names but I prefer [name_f]Frances[/name_f] nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. Can’t go wrong!

Both are amazing names! Personally I prefer [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] fits better with the sisters

Both are lovely, but [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dot[/name_f] is irresistible!

I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but not her nicknames as much. My vote therefore goes to [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], because I like [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Dot[/name_f]. If you’d like to call her [name_f]Thea[/name_f], would you consider [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]? I love [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]!

Agreed, this is a tough vote. I love them both. [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] wins by a hair.

Both great options! They both equally match the sibset.
I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f], love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], not a fan of [name_f]Franny[/name_f]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], love [name_f]Dot[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]! I don’t think [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] are too close
So I vote [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], but I would prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] in the middle

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] for me. I love both names, love them together, love nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and love this with sisters’ names.

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is ok, and [name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is sweet, however I think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is feistier, and I don’t like [name_f]Louise[/name_f] as it’s such a predictable middle that I don’t feel it adds anything to the name. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] would be much better. Or [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. Both [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] work well with the siblings though.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] works perfectly well for a [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nickname.
