Frances

What are everyone’s thoughts on [name]Frances[/name]?
I didn’t like it very much, then I started to (it was put on my list as a middle name). But now I’m starting to like it more and more as a first name. [name]Frances[/name] Bean Cobain is mainly to blame, I think. It just seems so nice on her.
Can any one else see it being used as a first name, or is it still too old lady?

It’s not really my style, sorry. It’s not that it feels old-ladyish to me–it feels more harsh and masculine, due to [name]Frank[/name]/[name]Francis[/name]/[name]Franklin[/name]/[name]Frankie[/name]/etc. I would probably be happy to meet a little [name]Frances[/name], but I probably wouldn’t consider it myself, not even as a MN. I think, with the nn [name]Annie[/name], [name]Frances[/name] would be a bit more appealing.

I’m not liking it - it’s old lady in a not so great way in my mind, but also as said above, slightly masculine. I think [name]Fran[/name] is kind of a cute, old fashioned nickname, but I hate the nickname [name]Frankie[/name]. what about [name]Francesca[/name]?

I think it is lovely. I especially like the nn [name]Franny[/name], so cute. I have loved it ever since I read [name]Franny[/name] and [name]Zooey[/name].

[name]Frances[/name] is one of my favorites!!! So sweet and classic. My style is all over the place though…

I love [name]Frances[/name], probably because I used to read [name]Frances[/name] [name]Hodgson[/name] [name]Burnett[/name]'s works when I was younger. I also love the nn [name]Frankie[/name]. However, [name]Frances[/name] is one of those names that I like but everyone seems to dislike/hate.

I really like [name]Frances[/name], although I’m more fond of it in the middle, because I don’t care much for the nns [name]Fran[/name], [name]Franny[/name] or any of the others, and I’d be too worried any [name]Frances[/name] would get reduced to one sooner or later.
