Francine, Dorothy, beyond

I’ve developed a name crush on [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. I love the vintage feel and how it sounds softer compared to [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or Francesa. I am looking for some other names to pair with [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. I want a name that is beyond the Top 1,000 or at least near the outside of the Top 1,000.

The only other name that I find similar to [name_f]Francine[/name_f] on my list is [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. I love the soft -th sound and the vintage nickname [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. To get a feel for my style, I also really like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], [name_u]Greer[/name_u] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. For boys, I really like [name_m]Chester[/name_m], [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_m]Ames[/name_m]. I would also consider the name [name_m]Ames[/name_m] for a girl too.

Thank you in advance!

Most of the names I suggested don’t currently rank in the top 1000, but for the few that do, I listed their 2019 ranking. I tried to find softer vintage names that you may like.

Mirabel and [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] are cute. I love [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]!

So many of these names I just love!!! Thank you

Thank you all for the suggestions! [name_f]My[/name_f] question is about the top 1000, what number would you say is too popular?

Some of the names I like are in the mid 500’s, but I’m just afraid of my favorites becoming too common.

I don’t think mid 500s is too common, but unfortunately I think it’s hard to predict. I’ve never had classmates with some of the top 10 names from my birth year, and yet I’ve had years where we had multiple Dexters or Sahanas and they’ve had to use their last initials despite their names ranking in the 800s or not at all when we were born. I think if you love a name, you should use it despite the popularity- even the top 100 names aren’t as popular as they once were. [name_f]My[/name_f] name ranked in the top 100 when I was born and I’ve only personally met one other (though I do know of more).

I like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], and [name_u]Greer[/name_u] with [name_f]Francine[/name_f]! From pps I like the suggestions of [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Cecile[/name_f], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]. I’m generally OK with popularity outside the top 100 unless it’s very similar to a popular name. I think 500s would be fine unless it’s something you’ve heard around your community that might be uniquely popular there.

I love your style of names - they are similar to my own! I have the same problem - I am worried some of the vintage - type names I love (or variants of them) are going to become very popular over the next few years. I love [name_f]May[/name_f]/Mae/Mabel/Mavis - but I can imagine these will become the [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/Evelyn of the future.

Some of the names I have found that you might like are;

Jillian
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhoda[/name_f]
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f]
[name_f]Edwina[/name_f]
[name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Uma[/name_f]
[name_f]Oona[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]

Thank you EJames! I have always felt like I am ahead of the curve or that the name I love will never really catch on but vintage names just seem to get popular very quickly! I agree that the [name_f]May[/name_f]-names will become the next [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/Evelyn as well.

I love the suggestions that you gave and can see [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] with [name_f]Francine[/name_f]!

Thank you for your thoughts about popularity. I agree that anything at 500 or above would be okay as well. I love [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f].
