Francine

What thoughts on [name_f]Francine[/name_f]?
I newly like it. I dont know why I like it. I have no history with it, no connection to it. But it is so pretty.
Oh [name_f]Francine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]…
I dislike nn [name_u]Fran[/name_u]…

I love it

If you don’t like [name_u]Fran[/name_u], what about:
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cindy[/name_f]
Cine
Cina
[name_f]Annie[/name_f]

Oh [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]!!! I love [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] x

I like [name_f]Francine[/name_f] and prefer the nickname [name_u]Fran[/name_u], but the ones that @ammie suggested could work well too.

I like [name_f]Francine[/name_f].

And I really like [name_f]Francine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
It has a beautiful sound. And I would just use [name_f]Francine[/name_f], no need for nicknames.

I prefer Franchesca. [name_f]Francine[/name_f] reminds me of Family [name_m]Guy[/name_m].

Or is it American Dad? One of the two

I think it’s american dad that has the [name_f]Francine[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Francine[/name_f] doesn’t really need a nickname, it’s not very long. I think [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f] were good suggestions though.

I have a crush on [name_f]Francine[/name_f] too and can’t quite figure out why !! I do also life [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. I love nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and also adorable and very quirky Fritzy!!!

[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is one of my favorites.

Yeah, it’s American Dad.

It didn’t even cross my mind until you mentioned it.

[name_f]Francine[/name_f] always reminds me of [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (the children’s tv show).

I don’t see the appeal. At all. There’s just something about [name_u]Fran[/name_u]- names that makes me want to run for the hills (except [name_f]Frances[/name_f]/[name_u]Francis[/name_u], I like that one).

[name_f]Love[/name_f] it. Though i’m quite partial to anything that ends -ine.
I like [name_u]Fran[/name_u] too actually. The thing with nicknames is you can only control them to a certain point. you can name a child [name_f]Francine[/name_f] and insist she is not called [name_u]Fran[/name_u] but at some time, entirely out of your control someone [name_m]WILL[/name_m] call your daughter [name_u]Fran[/name_u] and she may not stop them.

I agree with this. Which is why I mentioned my dislike for [name_u]Fran[/name_u]. My son is [name_m]Silas[/name_m], we plan to call him [name_m]Silas[/name_m] or [name_m]Sil[/name_m] if we feel like it. But others will call him [name_u]Si[/name_u]. Im not crazy about it but its not in my control - and he may actually prefer it who knows? Im wondering if its best to avoid a name altogether if I cant stick the obvious nn?

Yes - I think if you really dislike an obvious nn for your chosen first name then you should really think twice about using it. My name is [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]. My mum loathes the nn [name_u]Nat[/name_u] and did her best to not let people call me it but inevitably at school, and even now as an adult, people shorten my name. I dont love it though I dont hate it either but its too much bother to correct them so I don’t. It drives her mad if she hears people call me [name_u]Nat[/name_u].

Apologies to OP for highjacking your [name_f]Francine[/name_f] thread with nickname discussions!

[name_f]Francine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name. It’s elegant, soft, sophisticated, and it’ll age like wine.

[name_f]Francine[/name_f] can go by [name_f]Fanny[/name_f], [name_f]Fan[/name_f], [name_f]Ina[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Cindy[/name_f], or, if you really want a stretch, [name_u]Romy[/name_u].

[name_f]Francine[/name_f] sounds a bit dated to me. Other names similar to [name_f]Francine[/name_f] that I like are [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], [name_f]Francina[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and [name_f]Francille[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Francine[/name_f]! My only worry is that other Americans would hear it as a musty grandma name, when the way I hear it is a delicate variation of [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

Nicknames: I love [name_f]Francie[/name_f] - reminds me of A Tree Grows In [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is growing on me too - but my dad is a [name_u]Francis[/name_u] who goes by [name_m]Frank[/name_m] (probably why I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f]/[name_f]Francine[/name_f] for a girl) so it would probably be too much.

I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Francine[/name_f]! I’m just sorry that I can’t use it because my little niece is named [name_f]Francine[/name_f]! (named after family, but also St. [name_u]Francis[/name_u] of [name_f]Assisi[/name_f], which has special significance) We call her Cici for a nn mostly, but my uncle calls her Frenchie :). She is a little doll! The sweetest little thing in the world and I couldn’t see her with any other name!

My only reservation with [name_f]Francine[/name_f] was that I had no connection to it. Now I do. I am a big animal lover, so the St. [name_u]Francis[/name_u] connection is lovely to me. I may have to give this one a push for future use…!!

It reminds me of the character in [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. Perhaps a generational thing, though.

The reason I like [name_f]Francine[/name_f]/[name_f]Frances[/name_f]/[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is for the nn [name_u]Fran[/name_u]
