Could [name_u]Finn[/name_u] work as a nickname for [name_u]Francis[/name_u]? Or is it a stretch? And does anyone have any ideas for other nicknames for [name_u]Francis[/name_u] beyond the usual?

I think it works fine! In my opinion, nicknames do not have to be within the full name, a traditional nn or obvious as long as there is some connection. I know a [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] that goes by [name_f]Sosie[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] for [name_f]Camille[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] & [name_f]Frances[/name_f] are cute:-) [name_m]Franco[/name_m] would work, but I much prefer [name_u]Finn[/name_u]!
I love [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and absolutely adore [name_u]Finn[/name_u]! It is quite a stretch, but I agree the usual nicknames for [name_u]Francis[/name_u] aren’t great (although [name_u]Francis[/name_u] by itself is awesome). The sounds/letters are there but it’s not particularly intuitive, but I think it depends on how often you’ll use it and where. It’d probably be fine as a family nickname, but a bit difficult to explain to new acquaintances, and if [name_u]Finn[/name_u] would be used all the time it could be confusing to have [name_u]Francis[/name_u] as a full name (instead of just [name_u]Finn[/name_u]).
I think it’s a stretch, but definitely works. I knew an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who went by “[name_u]Ashley[/name_u]”, beyond a stretch. So anything is possible.

I think it’s a stretch but it would work. If I met someone named [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and he said he wanted to be called [name_u]Finn[/name_u], I wouldn’t think it’s that weird, especially since there are limited options for a nn for [name_u]Francis[/name_u].
