I just hate the name [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. It’s certainly fancier than [name_m]Derek[/name_m], but I’m really not a fan of the sound of this name.
I believe you have this doubt about [name_m]Derek[/name_m], because it’s a common name, right? Still a beautiful one.
Instead of [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], you could use the [name_m]German[/name_m] version, [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] or even [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] (in my head they have a similar sound).

I much prefer [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], it sounds so handsome and regal, with plenty of great nicknames, from the down-to-earth and common [name_m]Derick[/name_m] to the fun and sweet [name_m]Fritz[/name_m] to the perfectly vintage [name_m]Fred[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddie[/name_u].
I definitely prefer [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], too! Although I prefer the [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] spelling–it just looks a bit more softer and almost… regal? to me. I also like that it’s the [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling. I have Frédéric as a MN on my own list. I love the nn [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], and I’m just a bit tired of [name_m]Derek[/name_m], even though I’ve known several really good ones! And ironically, the one [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] I have known was awful, but then I think of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]'s [name_m]Captain[/name_m] Wentworth, and I’m swooning all over again. I think [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is fantastic!
