[name]Frederick[/name]: 2 or 3 syllables? fred-er-rick vs fred-rick? Full name to be [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Moss[/name]. What would you say? Thanks
2 syllables. [name]Love[/name] [name]Frederick[/name]!
I like the name better when pronounced [name]Fred[/name]-rick, but this is my husband’s name and people almost always pronounce it as 3 syllables when they address him. Not really a problem since he almost always goes by [name]Fred[/name], but I know he wishes there was just one clear way to pronounce his full name.
I say the second syllable so fast that the name sounds like two syllables, if that makes sense. It’s still 2 syllables, but not quite as blunt sounding as [name]Fred[/name]-[name]Rick[/name]. This was our number one boys name for awhile until we realized I liked the nn [name]Fred[/name], and my husband liked [name]Rick[/name]. Either way, it’s a great name with a lot of history, a great meaning, and cross-cultural appeal. I’d still use it if we could just agree on a darn nickname.
[name]Frederick[/name] is pronounced both ways, but I actually prefer the 3 syllable pronunciation. [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Moss[/name] is great
I think I’m with you aftorres… sort of 2 and a half syllables: fred-(eh)-rick. Thanks for the input! [name]Liz[/name]
