"Free-Spirited" boys names... help?!

Hubby & I are really struggling for boys names… Our girls name was pretty easy, but for boys? forget it - we can’t agree!

Tonight he said he really wants a ‘free-spirited’ name.

The names he’s so far suggested are [name]Jensen[/name], [name]Cameron[/name], [name]Quentin[/name], [name]Hendrix[/name] & [name]Christian[/name]. He also likes [name]Harry[/name] but that’s mainly because that was his grandfathers name.

I prefer names that aren’t common, but still have a classic feel to them. Some of my faves at the moment are [name]Archer[/name]/[name]Archie[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Rowan[/name] & [name]Zachary[/name] (he’s said no to each and every one!)

The middle name we ideally would like to use is [name]Jameson[/name]. [name]Jameson[/name] is our first choice because it means '[name]James[/name]‘s son’, and my husband’s name is [name]James[/name], my dad’s middle name is [name]James[/name], and my grandfathers name was [name]James[/name] so it seemed very fitting.

Can anyone suggest any names they think might appeal to both me and my hubby? Help!

Maybe some of these? It’s difficult with men, they often suggest names they don’t necessarily like, but names of people they like/admire/were pop in school and so on…

[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Douglas[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Finnegan[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Jared[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Jeremiah[/name]
[name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name]
[name]Laurence[/name]
[name]Leon[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Scott[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]

I think [name]Ottilie[/name] had great suggestions. Aside from that, perhaps:

[name]Alden[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Broderick[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Finley[/name] / [name]Finlay[/name]
[name]Fletcher[/name]
[name]Foster[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Grey[/name] / [name]Gray[/name]
[name]Harris[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Maxwell[/name] / [name]Maximilian[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Riley[/name]
[name]Riordan[/name]
[name]Robin[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Tobin[/name]
[name]Vaughn[/name]

Ooooooh! I’ll definately be interested to see what people come up with! I think ’ free-spirited’ is probably a bit subjective! Some of my favourite unisex nature names come to mind for me:
[name]Sunny[/name]
[name]River[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]Phoenix[/name]
Others that for one reason or another sound free spirited…
[name]Wolfe[/name]/wolf
[name]Bear[/name] (wild animal association with these two!)
[name]Finn[/name] (both [name]Huckleberry[/name] [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] The legendary Irish hero are pretty free spirited associations!!)
[name]Tristan[/name] (it’s definately the legends of the fall association but that character to me was the ultimate free spirit!!)
[name]Forrest[/name]
[name]Hunter[/name]

I love all these names for the very fact that they sound like free spirits!

From your list I like [name]Archer[/name], [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Cameron[/name]… [name]Archer[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] is a pretty cool name,…
Though to me [name]Hunter[/name] [name]Jameson[/name], [name]River[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] or [name]Sunny[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] sound more free spirited!

[name]How[/name] about:

[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Maddox[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Forrest[/name]
[name]Max[/name]
[name]Wesley[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Rooney[/name]
[name]Rio[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]
[name]Otto[/name]
[name]Otis[/name]
[name]Keifer[/name]
[name]Brett[/name]
[name]Casey[/name]
[name]Corey[/name]
[name]Henley[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Zander[/name]
[name]Grey[/name]
[name]Memphis[/name]
[name]Dallas[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]

I agree with tfzolghadr regarding the -n ending. I think [name]Jameson[/name] is a fabulous middle, but I really don’t think you can do something like [name]Jenson[/name] [name]Jameson[/name], unless you’re very committed to the rhyming.

Generally, my vision of free-spirited is nature names or softer names, from your list I think [name]Flynn[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] fit, but again, those won’t sound the greatest with [name]Jameson[/name].

What’s your opinion on using [name]Jameson[/name] as a first name? That might solve the problem and allow you to use a more ‘out-there’ interesting name in the middle.

I do like:
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Jameson[/name]
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] - this is probably my absolute favorite
[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Henry[/name]/[name]Harry[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name] [name]Jameson[/name]

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! There a few in there I’ll definitely be suggesting to hubby.

RE [name]Jameson[/name] as a first name, I originally was going to have this as the first name but I know it’d get shortened to [name]Jaime[/name], and I really dislike [name]Jaime[/name] as a boys name. Only other nn I could think of was [name]Jimmy[/name] but very close friends of ours already have a [name]Jimmy[/name].

I love [name]Jimmy[/name]!! All the [name]Jimmy[/name]'s I know are rascals  I think sonny/sunny could be a great free spirited nn for [name]Jameson[/name]!

There’s also [name]Jay[/name] or [name]Mason[/name]!

Thanks everyone  not loving sonny/sunny, jay or mason sadly!

Tfzolghadr suggested [name]Brody[/name] which ive been mulling over all day and liking it more and more - shall suggest to hubby and fingers crosses its not another flat out no!

Well [name]Brody[/name] was a bust and has been added to the ‘no’ pile…

You did plant a seed in my head though about using [name]Jameson[/name] as the first name as its the only thing we both agree on! My issue with [name]Jameson[/name] was coming up with a usable nn, so i’ve been umming and ahhing about it and have come up with [name]Jameson[/name] [name]Jon[/name]. [name]Jon[/name] is another honoring name (my maternal grandfather, [name]John[/name]), and we could call him JJ.

WDYT of [name]Jameson[/name] [name]Jon[/name] nn JJ?
