French berries I need help!

I was led to believe Garen is French for guardian. Does anyone if this is true? I love the name because I am half French and half Scottish, the sound it has and the nn [name]Gare[/name].

I’m French Canadian but I’ve never heard the term garen or name Garen. Guardian in French is actually similar to English. It would be spelled guardien, gahr-dee-ain but little emphasis in the n. I’ve known English people named [name]Garren[/name].

I’ve never heard of garen either (I’m not French but I’m French-speaking), and it’s not in the dictionary. ‘Garenne’ is a word, though. It’s apparently the woods/ a place where wild rabbits live…
The French name database (the one with the government stats) lists Garen as being unused in [name]France[/name] but is an Armenian name with an Iranian origin.
Garen is definitely not French for guardian, though.

Armenian is Persian, right? I don’t know I just thought it was French and that’s a major reason I loved it.

I think Iran is [name]Persia[/name], Armenia is another country in itself.
The name resource I find most reliable also lists Garen as an Armenian name, a short form of Garegin, which apparently the meaning of that is unknown.

I wish I could find a reliable resource. I really love the name, Garen

Armenia isn’t [name]Persia[/name], no. Iran is [name]Persia[/name], it is next to Armenia (and Khazakistan, and some other countries…). In Iran they speak Farsi, in Armenia they speak Armenian (and Russian). There’s probably some crossover and stuff but it’s Iran like the US is Mexico.
