I am liking the name Cosette a lot lately but I have been told that it has an unpleasent meaning in france and since I travel a lot to france I would like to know if you know anything about this bad association!!
Especially if you are french, please let me know what you think

I’m not French, but from what I’ve gathered, in France the name Cosette is not really used anymore and anyone you meet with the name is likely to be an elderly woman. You can view the popularity chart here: Popularity for the name Cosette - Behind the Name

I believe it has an idiomatic meaning in French that’s negative, similar to saying “Poor little rich girl!” in English. But I’m not fluent in French so I’m not certain.

If you’re not actually living in France, I don’t think it would be a big deal.

[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is beautiful such a lovely name really elegant and intriguing. Honestly such a stunning name and I love the nickname [name_u]Coco[/name_u]. Personally I think [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] just means little thing in [name_f]France[/name_f] I don’t think there is any negative connotations. But then I don’t speak [name_u]French[/name_u] nor travel to [name_f]France[/name_f] on the regular so I’m not sure if I’m the right person to answer that query. But in a nutshell I think [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is stunning.
