We are expecting our first bundle of joy in [name_f]September[/name_f] and are not finding out the gender so we are looking for 2 names! So far we have no names picked out…
We live in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m], [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and my husband will be speaking only [name_m]French[/name_m] to baby so we need a name that is easy to pronounce in both English and [name_m]French[/name_m]. We want something less common, weirder names are welcomed and we’d love the input of people in [name_m]French[/name_m] countries or communities. Names like Geneviève or [name_m]Emile[/name_m] are not exotic here, they’re considered classics.
We’re not anti-top 100 but we’d definitely prefer a rare name or at least something with a punch.
Preferably a shorter name (not [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] for example)
Preferably not an A or ON finishing name ([name_f]Emilia[/name_f] or [name_u]Carson[/name_u])
Names don’t have to be French at all, just easily pronounced (Parker=bad, Olivia=good)
A few that come to mind:
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Marine[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Violette[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucie[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
Otillie
Does the name need to have roughly the same pronunciation in both English and [name_m]French[/name_m] (i.e. [name_f]Lucie[/name_f]) or can it have an intuitive but different pronunciation in each language (i.e. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f])?
I went for more eccentric options since you like unusual names, so I hope these aren’t the wrong style?
