I have been searching for names to freshen up my very short list of favourites. I am so picky, it’s a miracle that these ones are being considered to add to my list! So yeah, would you mind giving my your honest thoughts on these names, and maybe some imagery?
[name_f]Enid[/name_f]
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] (fee-on)
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Amie[/name_f] (ah-MEE, not ay-mee)
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
Thank you! It’s always nice to hear other Berries’ opinions.
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] - Cute, but I can’t help but think of Enid from Ghost World.
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] (fee-on) - Interesting… I’m not sure what I think about it. I guess it sounds kind of masculine… Like [name_m]Deon[/name_m].
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] - Reminds me of [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] Malfoy from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].
[name_f]Amie[/name_f] (ah-MEE, not ay-mee) - This is pretty cute, but I think most people would pronounce it like [name_f]Amy[/name_f] if they were just reading it.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - I actually love this name! It’s adorable.
[name_u]Marian[/name_u] - This is my baby cousin’s name! I think it’s a beautiful name.
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] - Cute.
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - I love the sound of this name!
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] - I like nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] is nms.
[name_f]Amie[/name_f] - I think you’d have pronounciation issues with this one.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - This one is really growing on me. I think [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] as a nn is adorable.
[name_u]Marian[/name_u] - I prefer [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], I always think [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood with [name_u]Marian[/name_u].
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] - I really like this, but some will think it’s very old-fashioned. Reminds me of [name_f]Enid[/name_f] Blyton (nice namesake for a child).
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - The double F is confusing. I wouldn’t have known how to pronounce this if you hadn’t said.
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]
[name_f]Amie[/name_f] - I’d prefer [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] ([name_m]French[/name_m] variation of [name_f]Amy[/name_f]). Pronunciation problems will arise no doubt!
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - Another old-fashioned gem.
[name_u]Marian[/name_u] - My first thought is of Maid [name_u]Marian[/name_u]. I really like this.
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] - I love vintage names and Arthurian mythology but for some reason, I’ve never warmed to this one. It may draw me in later on but for now I prefer the similar [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or [name_f]Ena[/name_f]. [name_f]Ffion[/name_f] (fee-on) - both [name_f]Ffion[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] have grown on me but it took a while. [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] - [name_m]French[/name_m], pretty and chic
[name_f]Amie[/name_f] (ah-MEE, not ay-mee) - I know it’s [name_m]French[/name_m] for “friend” but how many in the general population would know that and also how to pronounce it? To most, this name would just look like [name_f]Amy[/name_f] spelled kre8tively. Better in the middle spot or a nickname.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - Ok but not outstanding. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] gets more love on Nameberry than [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and I’m not crazy about that one either. They’re not the prettiest colours, are they? [name_u]Marian[/name_u] - soft and delicate with a [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood pedigree. I knew a Polish man with this name. It’s popular in [name_f]East[/name_f] European for males so it’s a surprising unisex name.
[name_f]Enid[/name_f]- A wonderful vintage name with spunk and strength.
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f]- [name_m]Will[/name_m] deal with spelling issues her whole life. Also the name reminds me of Neon. Not the most elegant of names in my humble opinion.
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]- We have a brand of discount milk where I live named [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] so that is what I think of!
[name_f]Amie[/name_f]- [name_m]Will[/name_m] be called [name_f]Amy[/name_f] her whole life.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]- While I prefer [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or Olvia myself. I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is a very precious name. It’s not to sweet, but still very flavorful.
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]- A classic of the highest order.Like [name_f]Juliette[/name_f],it evokes a romantic image instantly. Very beautiful, elegant and timeless.
