Frey

[name_m]Frey[/name_m] [FRAY] is an anglicization of the Old Norse Freyr which means “lord”. In Norse Mythology Freyr was the twin brother of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and is associated with fertility, prosperity, sunlight, and rain. It’s been on my mind lately and so I’d love to hear your all’s opinion.

What do you think of [name_m]Frey[/name_m]? Which, if any, of the combos below do you like? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a favorite? Are there any that you particularly dislike? Suggestions are always appreciated!

[name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]

Thanks!

I love Norse Mythology, and Freyr is one of my favourite gods, so I love [name_m]Frey[/name_m] (the sound is great too). I like [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but I’m not entirely sure of either.

My only suggestions would be [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Alessandro[/name_m] and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m].

I like it. I’m loving [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] is great too. Somerled is one of my favorite guilty pleasure names but the combo may be a bit too uncommon.

I like [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. It’s sturdy but still gentle.
I like [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. I think some of the other middles are nice, but just don’t quite work. And I think with a first name like [name_m]Frey[/name_m] it would be best to use a more common/simple middle name.

I love [name_m]Frey[/name_m] and think [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Amias[/name_m] is fantastic.

I like something longer and on the quirky side with [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Amias[/name_m], [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m], [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Leander[/name_m], and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] fit that well. If you want to play it safe, [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m], and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] are good choices.

@islandmoon: [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] is quite handsome. I’m usually not into [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] but I think it works nicely with [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. Thank you!

@llbaby22: [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is rather nice, isn’t it? So far I think [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] is my favorite just because I enjoy how it looks. You may be right in saying Somerled is a bit much with [name_m]Frey[/name_m] but I enjoy the sound and imagery. Thanks!

@maerad: I like how you describe [name_m]Frey[/name_m] as sturdy but gentle. That’s exactly how I see it.

I absolutely agree that some names don’t work quite as well as others with [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. Honestly, at this point I’m just throwing names at it and seeing what sticks.

@sunniva: Thank you!

@wandsworth: I like a little bit of everything with [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. It’s a name that I feel is in that happy place where you could go either quirky like [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] or very safe like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and it work either way. Thank you!

I love [name_m]Frey[/name_m] and I forgot how much I love it. [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] is adorable. [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] or [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] would be cute.

It’s unusual but wearable, and quite handsome. I really like [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Amias[/name_m] and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].

I love [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] would be my second choice. Not sure if you’re aware or not, but [name_m]Frey[/name_m] is a house (family) name in Game of Thrones. I would just be cautious about using [name_m]Walter[/name_m], because the head of the house was [name_m]Walder[/name_m] [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. If you’re aware of the reference and love it is great, but it’s something I would want to know before rather than after.

@raveonclaw: I don’t watch Game of Thrones nor have I read it so I had no idea about the reference. I actually have [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Frey[/name_m] on my list. lol Thank you for pointing it out—I might have to nix that one.
