Freya and Frida

My very, very beloved pug child is named [name_f]Frida[/name_f]. We are now pregnant with a baby girl and are loving the name [name_f]Freya[/name_f] for her ” my only fear us that the two names sound too similar? What are your thoughts??

I think it would be okay. The ‘Ey’ sound in [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is quite distinctive

I think it’s absolutely fine. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is a beautiful name, we were considering it for our baby too

I love [name_f]Freya[/name_f]! I don’t think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Frida[/name_f] sound too similar, they both have different sounds in the middle of their names (‘ey’ and ‘id’).

I think it’ll probably be fine. They aren’t rhyming or anything and (sorry to be negative, but) ultimately your baby is probably going to be around longer than your dog, so I think it’s better in this case to pick the name that you love for your daughter instead of letting the dog’s name prevent you from it (if that makes sense…)

I think they’re distinctive enough!

Not negative, very realistic take! Hard to fathom not having her forever, but unfortunately that’s how this works :sob: thanks for your input!!

I think were you asking if [name_f]Frida[/name_f] & [name_f]Freya[/name_f] were too similar as sisters, I would likely say yes, however, I think in this your case, [name_f]Freya[/name_f] would be perfectly fine to use on your daughter. I know that pets are very much a part of the family (my own boys mean the world to me) but there is a clear difference and line to be drawn between dog and daughter. I actually like the similarities when it’s between your beloved pooch and your soon to be daughter, kind of cute, but not at all too cute, and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is a gorgeous name!

Good point. Thank you!!!
