Any opinions on whether the nickname “[name_u]Frankie[/name_u]” is too far a stretch from birth name “[name_f]Freya[/name_f]”?

it is a bit of a stretch- but it probably could work, [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] might make more sense though
Whats her middle name? Maybe if it started with a K, like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], then the [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] nickname would make more sense. Not as much of a stretch.
My concern is that [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is longer than [name_f]Freya[/name_f] so it’s not much of a nickname.
The names seem unrelated to me, so I don’t see [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Freya[/name_f].
I guess I’m wondering what the purpose of the nickname is in this case. It’s longer than [name_f]Freya[/name_f], so it doesn’t save time to say. If you want to call her [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], why bother with [name_f]Freya[/name_f]? You could name her [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Francesca[/name_f].
It seems to me like you like 2 names and rather than deciding between the 2 of them, you’re trying to find a way to use both. I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with that, but I think you’ll have to give up the pretense that the 2 names are connected (i.e. This is our son [name_m]Basil[/name_m] but we call him [name_u]Bernie[/name_u]).
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is actually already 3 years old, and I’m her godmother. She’s a little tomboy already and I was brainstorming more unisex nicknames I could use for her - I really like [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] and I agree it works a lot better! Thanks for the help everyone x
I actually think [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] works fine! I love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] too.
Rey works well as a tomboy nickname for Freya. A nod to the fierce, tomboy character, Rey, in the new Starwars films.
I prefer Freddie to Frankie for Freya, Freddie works well.

If she’s already 3, I’d ask her which she likes best, [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] or [name_u]Rey[/name_u].
Personally, I’m leaning toward [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], but 3 year olds do have opinions.
