We are going to start trying for our 2nd child in [name]August[/name] (hopefully we will be blessed) so of course now that we have decided I keep thinking of names! My grandmother’s name was [name]Lillie[/name] and she recently passed away and I want to honor her memory as we were very close. My fist child is [name]Zachary[/name] and I love the idea of having a y in the name for our potential next child. So thoughts:
[name]Freya[/name] [name]Lillie[/name]
[name]Joselyn[/name] [name]Lillie[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name]
I really like [name]Freya[/name] but I think [name]Joselyn[/name] works better with [name]Zachary[/name]. I prefer the spelling [name]Jocelyn[/name] though. Have you considered using [name]Lillie[/name] or [name]Lilly[/name] as a fn? I think it is lovely with [name]Zachary[/name].
I actually have thought about [name]Lillie[/name] as a fn. Sometimes it is hard to say that name though as I relate it so closely to my grandma. I was so close to her that it is still hard to not call her. I don’t know what I would do as a middle name though if I did [name]Lillie[/name] as a first. As for spelling I would stick to [name]Lillie[/name] as it is so different and it is how she spelled it.
I like the idea of giving her the same first name as your grandma. I’m certain she would honored as well. You can always wait until she is born and see if it weird calling her [name]Lillie[/name]. Or you could go with a longer version such as [name]Lillian[/name] or [name]Liliana[/name] and use the nn [name]Lillie[/name]. That way it makes the name more her own.
I like [name]Freya[/name] mostly because I think it a much more striking first name that I personally like more the [name]Joselyn[/name] or any other spelling of the name but I also think it goes better with the middle name.
[name]Freya[/name] is quite strong sounding but last syllable has a softness of the last syllable ‘ya’ flows nicely into Lille. The last syllable of [name]Joselyn[/name] begins with in L as do both syllables in [name]Lillie[/name] all together it’s slightly awkward.
I think both names go just fine with [name]Zachary[/name], and I fell a bit like I’m over analyzing when I say this but I do think [name]Freya[/name] matches a bit better because they both have bit of quirk I don’t hear in [name]Joselyn[/name] (however I do hear it in the nn [name]Josie[/name])
I prefer [name]Freya[/name] over [name]Jocelyn[/name], but in this case I think [name]Jocelyn[/name] sounds better. [name]Freya[/name] [name]Lillie[/name] kind of sounds like Frail [name]Lilly[/name], or Frail ill - y (which isn’t really a thing but there you have it) . . .
[name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Lillie[/name] has a really nice flow to it
I also like the idea of using [name]Lillie[/name] as a first name! What a special way to honor the relationship you had with your grandmother!
Otherwise, I personally prefer [name]Freya[/name] both on its own and with [name]Lillie[/name] in the middle, but think [name]Jocelyn[/name]/[name]Joselyn[/name] goes better with [name]Zachary[/name].
Aww. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the input. I think I was spelling [name]Joselyn[/name]/[name]Jocelyn[/name] with the S because of the nn [name]Josie[/name]. For some weird reason I would feel like there needs to be an s in the original name lol. I am weird like that though! I definitely have alot of time since we are not able to start trying until [name]August[/name]!! But I do so love to think of names. My grandma was a special lady and I definitely want to honor her. I would be interested to see if anyone has any suggestions for a middle name if I did indeed go with [name]Lillie[/name] or Lillien for a first name…At this point one that comes to mind for me is Lillien [name]Esme[/name]. Not sure thoug…
If it were spelt [name]Jocelyn[/name], then I would pick that name, but with the S - doesn’t do a thing for me. Sorry. That being said, I say go for [name]Freya[/name]!
My choice would be [name]Freya[/name] [name]Lillie[/name]. I am a [name]Jacqueline[/name] who was almost named [name]Jocelyn[/name] and I really would have despised it for me personally.
