Yes you read that correctly.
Freysia for a girl.
Me and my husband are completely stumped on girl names we like a few but dont LOVE any.
We definitely prefer unusual and not heard names.
He likes [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but it’s so popular here and he saw [name_f]Freyja[/name_f] thinking it was pronounced like [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] so it got us thinking if [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] /Freysia could be a sweet girl name. I have to say the meaning is swaying me as it means strawberry and I think what a lovely subtle summer baby name.
Obviously most people have only heard of [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] [name_m]Crane[/name_m] so will think boy name.
There are plenty of unisex names with much more masculine meanings.
What do we think?
Freysia would share the same nn as a [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. I.E [name_m]Frey[/name_m]?
I think it’s cute, personally I think I slightly prefer Fresia or Frasia, just for the cleaner spelling but I understand why you would go with the Freysia spelling for pronunciation (and I would pronounce freysia as Frey-shah and Frasier as Frey-sure, just FYI if that helps any)
Freysia reminds me of [name_f]Freesia[/name_f], the flowering plants.
When I pronounce them Freysia and [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] sound different.
I had never heard of [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] [name_m]Crane[/name_m] but I would still assume that [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] is a boy. I would assume Freysia is a girl.
I love [name_f]Freesia[/name_f] but husband isnt keen boo but definitely think Freysia has something interesting to it. Out of interest how would you pronounce Freysia. Is it the same as the person above with more emphasis on the [name_m]Shah [/name_m]like in [name_f]Freesia[/name_f]? I have an obsession with the sound [name_m]Shah [/name_m]lol, I randomly say [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Scotia[/name_f] out loud because it has the same sound. I’d use [name_f]Scotia[/name_f] if I didnt think people would pronounce it [name_m]Scot[/name_m]-E.R.
I actually find Freysia quite cute. It would make a very interesting and unique girl name. I definitely prefer this spelling from [name_m]Frasier[/name_m].
I actually really like it!! I think it’s very cute, and if you find a name that you and your husband both love, I say go for it!! The imagery is perfect, it’s feminine but not frilly, easy to pronounce, and powerful.
I think of [name_f]Freesia[/name_f] too, which I really like. [name_u]Free[/name_u]-sha.I would pronounce Freysia like fray-cee-ah. And I pronounce [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] like Fray-sure. So to me they aren’t the same but Im from [name_u]California[/name_u]- not sure if that makes any difference?
They are all lovely names. [name_f]Freesia[/name_f] is so pretty. [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] is very masculine to me and my main association is [name_m]Frasier[/name_m] [name_m]Crane[/name_m]. Freysia is interesting- I like the look of it a lot!
Yea depending on where people come from it will definitely change the pronunciation, I’m from the uk. I’d want to just pronounce it with 2 syllables [name_m]Frey[/name_m] and [name_f]Sia[/name_f] I pronounce it more like [name_m]Frey[/name_m] Zha rhyming with Car.
I definitely have a soft spot for it.
I love how positive everyones been though I definitely expected more backlash
Oooh I love this suggestion!!! my husband is really into Norse mythology which is why he liked [name_f]Freya[/name_f] in the first place. Il see what he thinks of it.
I quite like Freysia nn [name_m]Frey[/name_m]! It reminds me of freesia. Not sure how you would pronounce it, but I would say it differently (FRAY-shuh) from how I’d pronounce [name_m]Fraser[/name_m]/Frasier (FRAY-zuhr/FRAY-zhur).
