Full name for Isa

Hi everyone,

I love [name_f]Isa[/name_f] (pronounced EE-suh), common nickname for the name [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] in some cultures/languages.

I’m not too keen on [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (or variations of, like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]) so was wondering if I could come up with a different full name that was still works. I’m going to list some below, they range from plausible to outlandish (I’ve tried to put them in order of plausibility).

Please let me know if you have any ideas and your thoughts on any I’ve mentioned. All opinions welcome.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] (I like this but it doesn’t really vibe with other names I like)

[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Anais[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]

[name_f]Alicia[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] (additionally, other names ending in the same/similar sound: [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Doris[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Lois[/name_f])

[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]

[name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

Also [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] came to me but it’s a huge stretch (Francesca → Kiki* → [name_f]Cece[/name_f] → Isa).

Thank you so much for your help!

*Kiki can be a nn for [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] in Italian.

(Also, I’ve posted a similar thing before but I’ve added some new ones and would like new opinions )

My favourite for you is [name_f]Anais[/name_f], I think it works well and makes sense! And after that, I’d choose [name_f]Iris[/name_f]!

Some other ideas: [name_f]Isidora[/name_f] or [name_f]Isidra[/name_f], [name_f]Larisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Larissa[/name_f], [name_f]Marisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Marissa[/name_f], [name_f]Luisa[/name_f], Ismena or Ismina, [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f], [name_f]Charissa[/name_f], [name_f]Taisa[/name_f], [name_f]Elisa[/name_f], [name_f]Inessa[/name_f], [name_f]Vasilisa[/name_f]

My personal favourite is [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. It strikes me as an elegant and regal name, with a slightly melancholic and nostalgic touch. [name_f]Isa[/name_f] is a vibrant, lively nickname, and I think it creates a very pleasing balance.
Of course, [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] also seems like a “natural” option, as “Isa” is contained within it. I do like it because it’s classic, and there are countless possible nicknames, with [name_f]Isa[/name_f] being just one of them.
I like the rest of the names on your list as well, to be honest. In many of them, [name_f]Isa[/name_f] (pronounced ee-suh) even feels quite intuitive. I’m also rather fond of the idea of [name_f]Lois[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], or [name_f]Anais[/name_f]. These work surprisingly well. [name_f]Isa[/name_f] isn’t obvious at first glance, but phonetically it’s completely plausible, especially in multilingual contexts. [name_f]Anais[/name_f] → [name_f]Isa[/name_f] feels quite modern and believable.

Some more options:

  • [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Elisa[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f]
  • Eloise/Eloisa
  • [name_f]Marisa[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Luisa[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Isara[/name_f]

I thought of [name_f]Isela[/name_f] as well, although idk if you’ll like it if you’re not fond of [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]?

Of your options, I really like:

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] → intuitive way to the nickname and a lovely name - strong and elegant and bright too

[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] → classic and fairly intuitive – I’ve met an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ‘Izzy’, so why not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ‘Isa’.

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] → a pretty name, elegant and frilly, but [name_f]Isa[/name_f] adds a playful element

[name_f]Lois[/name_f] → lovely, warm name and I think [name_f]Isa[/name_f] works well

[name_f]Ines[/name_f] → sparky and international and [name_f]Ines[/name_f] ‘Isa’ works to me

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] → classic, strong and literary – I think this makes sense as [name_f]Isa[/name_f] is the last sound :person_shrugging:

[name_f]Cerise[/name_f] also came to mind

I love [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] and it’s underused

Etc

I think [name_f]Eloise[/name] “[name_f]Isa[/name]” or [name_f]Louise[/name]/[name_f]Louisa[/name] “[name_f]Isa[/name]” are really nice! I’m also voting for [name_f]Iris[/name] just because I’m happy to meet another -s/-ce name fan. I think [name_f]Ines[/name] “[name_f]Isa[/name]” would work as well?
