I’ve been quite crushing on [name_u]Kit[/name_u] lately for a girl–I am quite besotted!–but the most natural option, [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], is a name I’m just not sure I’d use? It’s a family name and I’m a huge [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] fan, but I’m just not sure I can see me calling my daughter [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. Are there any other options for the nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u]? I remember @jonquils telling me about Corinthia nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u] on her list at one point, and I found that so wonderfully unexpected and inventive, and I’m wondering if I can find something similar. If it has astronomy, literature, or religious undertones, all the better, but I’m really open to anything at this point.
But where I vacation, there’s a place we always go called Kittery. And it sits in the back of my mind as a beautiful name.
If you want something that is a name,
Kit [name_m]Harrington[/name_m] from Game of Thrones’ full name is [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]. If it’s a girl, you can use [name_f]Christina[/name_f]/Kristina, [name_f]Christine[/name_f], [name_f]Krista[/name_f], or [name_f]Christi[/name_f].
How about [name_f]Kitty[/name_f], [name_f]Christabel[/name_f], [name_f]Kismet[/name_f], [name_u]Beckett[/name_u], [name_u]Rocket[/name_u], [name_u]Akita[/name_u] or [name_u]Nikita[/name_u]?
I like Corinthia! Also the suggestion of [name_f]Catriona[/name_f], or maybe [name_f]Katriona[/name_f]. [name_f]Katrina[/name_f] is always a good variant of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/Katharine/Katharina.
What about Kittery? It reminds me of Kittery, [name_u]Maine[/name_u].
Thank you, everyone! I think [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] and [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] are my favorite options, but I am not sure I could give up my preferences for Cosy or [name_f]Christa[/name_f]/Tiana. [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is a good idea though! Kittery nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is intriguing, but as I have no associations with the town, it seems like an odd choice for me? And as far as the [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] variants, I’m more likely to use [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] up front than any of the other forms, although I do love [name_f]Katharina[/name_f] as a middle.
Any other suggestions are welcomed! Thanks, Berries!
