I like the nn [name_u]Blue[/name_u] for a boy (probably only for the first 5-8 years or so), but I can’t figure out a full name.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
I love [name_u]Blue[/name_u] for a boy, as a full name or nn, but I completely understand it just being a nn. I’d probably use it for [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], but that’s quite out there in itself, and I know a lot of people prefer it for a girl, but it’s a suggestion. Maybe one of these could work:
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
I can’t think of many, sorry. Or you could use [name_u]Blue[/name_u] as a middle and get the nn from there or just call him [name_u]Blue[/name_u] as an affectionate pet name.
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a cute nickname, my sons nn is [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and his first names [name_m]Robert[/name_m], I got bear from calling him [name_m]Roberto[/name_m], then [name_m]Berto[/name_m] " bear-toe" then just bear…
These names I think clearly lead to a [name_u]Blue[/name_u] nickname…
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] / [name_m]Luis[/name_m] ( I feel these works best)
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] (might be more of a stretch, but works i think)
[name_m]Luther[/name_m] ( I like this a lot too tho, unexpected nn but easily do able)

I like your suggestions of [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] and [name_u]River[/name_u]. [name_u]River[/name_u] is my brother’s middle name, though, so that’s out. (It was a good idea, though.)

I like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_m]Luther[/name_m]. I never would have thought to use those as a full name for [name_u]Blue[/name_u], but they work.
Thank you both for your suggestions! They were really helpful.
Maybe [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u]?
[name_u]Beau[/name_u]
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]
Buchanon?
I like the suggestion of [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u]
I would just call him [name_u]Blue[/name_u]. No need to connect it to the given name.

Thanks, I hadn’t considered [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u]! I like it.
@hannahcarmeen -
I like your suggestion of [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]. Something I wouldn’t have thought of myself.
@southern.maple -
I have considered it, but I just don’t think it would age all that well. Maybe as a middle…
Thanks all for the helpful suggestions!
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a super cute nickname for a little guy but I can see why you’d want a full name for later in life.
Some more literal suggestions:
[name_u]Navy[/name_u]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
Names that mean blue or something to do with water:
[name_u]Neel[/name_u] - is Hindi for “[name_f]Sapphire[/name_f] blue”
[name_u]Neil[/name_u] - Means “cloud”
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u]
[name_u]Jay[/name_u]
[name_u]Cyan[/name_u]
[name_u]Kai[/name_u] - means “sea”
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u] - “Sea warrior”
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
If you don’t like any of these, you can do a little research to find lots of names that mean something about water, the ocean or sea, blue in other languages etc. All kinds of fun possibilities! These names were just the ones I thought would be easiest to wear in the current times. Let me know what you think!
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] sounds like it could be the kind of pet name that doesn’t have to be tied to the name to me- the way you’d affectionately call your child honey or cupcake or bean. I think that’s what @southernmaple was saying? Name him whatever you like as a full name and call him [name_u]Blue[/name_u] at home as a nickname.
