Full name for nn Reece/Rhys

Hello all! I have decided I really love the idea of calling my future little boy [name]Reece[/name] (or [name]Rhys[/name]). I don’t like the spelling confusion that would happen if that was his full name, however. Can you help me think of names that could have [name]Rhys[/name] as a nn? Thanks!!

[name]Maurice[/name] is the only one that jumps to mind. Perhaps [name]Tyrice[/name]/[name]Tyrese[/name] (but I don’t think that would resolve the spelling confusion). That said, [name]Reece[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name] aren’t uncommon. I suppose he would have to specify which spelling he used, but I don’t think that that clarification would be too confusing or irritating.

I think [name]Rhys[/name] is becoming more and more known to a much wider audience. I don’t think you’d have quite as much problem with it as you would have before. [name]Jonathan[/name] [name]Rhys[/name] Meyers’ rise in American pop-culture with the hit show “The Tudors”, seems to have helped expose a lot of new people to the name.

Though, that being said you wouldn’t believe how many times people misspell “[name]Stephanie[/name]”, so you never really know!

I tend to think of [name]Rhys[/name] as more of a welsh spelling. Not sure how true this is and if it’s just a coincidence that all the [name]Rhys[/name]’ (that I know) that are welsh spell it that way and english people spell it [name]Reece[/name]! I even know one boy who spells it [name]Rees[/name].

Guess it’s just the parents preference.

Good luck

I say go with [name]Rhys[/name]! Not all that uncommon anymore. It would be more confusing for him to have a full name and go by [name]Rhys[/name]. Plus, if he goes by [name]Rhys[/name], spelling will still be an issue.

My brother is [name]Rhys[/name], he is now 37. I have never thought of it being a NN and if you love it just go for it! We are from New Zealand and it wasn’t until we got to be older that we saw the American spelling - [name]Reece[/name] -. As for the spelling thing in this day and age where there are so many different spellings of simple/classic names I think whatever you named your son he would still have to confirm the spelling to someone in his life at some point. Good luck with your decision

I know a little boy named [name]Maurice[/name] and his family calls him [name]Reece[/name].

I think [name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reece[/name] can stand alone just fine. Maybe because I am use to the [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon association.

I am more partial to the [name]Rhys[/name] spelling, but if you are looking for a longer variant, [name]Reece[/name] could be reasonable.

Also, I think [name]Blade[/name], has listed some nice names.

My first thought was [name]Emrys[/name], which I love but probably wouldn’t help on the spelling front. [name]Rhys[/name] is lovely
