[name_m]Long[/name_m] explanation alert! Basically, in the prison where my first bit of backstory takes place, every prisoner is given a new, one syllable name upon arrival or birth. Usually, it’s taken out of their real name, like the first two or three letters. Those letters become the beginning of the prison number branded onto each prisoner’s hand by correlating the letter with their place in the alphabet—A=1, B=2, C=3, and so on. For instance, my MC’s brother was [name_m]Castor[/name_m] before he and his father were arrested, but in the prison, they deemed him [name_m]Cas[/name_m] for the next 25 years of his sentence. Therefore the first numbers on his palm are 3119, because C is the third letter of the alphabet, A is the first, and S is the 19th. [name_f]My[/name_f] MC was born in the prison and given the name Rel (18512). Basically her brother is the classic chosen one and is rescued from the prison by the classic mentor when Rel is five. He comes back for his much younger sister and father two years and a bunch of classic chosen one shenanigans later, only to find that his father is dead. Through just a little bit of murder and a lot of money, he frees Rel and takes her back to chosen one headquarters. Now Rel is the only name she’s ever been given, but [name_m]Castor[/name_m] absolutely despises anything to do with his seven years spent in the prison and tells her that just like his prison name, [name_m]Cas[/name_m], Rel is short for something their father named her. Now I have no idea what this full name is. I’d like it to be something grand-ish, as she later becomes princess when her brother’s digression arc is wrapped up with taking over the kingdom he was trying to save and basically becoming a tyrant. Rel doesn’t have to be the first part of her name (I was originally thinking Aurelie), but it definitely can be. As for origin, I don’t have anything specific in mind. Thank you so much for reading this crazy long explanation !
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], which is similar to [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]. [name_f]Aureliana[/name_f] could make it even more grand.
If the ‘rel’ part can come later in the name, maybe [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f] or [name_f]Laureline[/name_f]?
Sounds like a cool story! [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] would work well!
