I recently have fallen in love with the name [name_f]Clio[/name_f] ~ she’s so spunky and sweet, and I love the Greek muse connection!
However, most of my favorite names are very long and regal (think [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], etc.) and I don’t think that short and zippy [name_f]Clio[/name_f] really fits in.
So, I’d love some help!! Which names can have the nn [name_f]Clio[/name_f] (or Cleo!), while still having a longer, more formal form?
Two I already have that I like are [name_f]Cliantha[/name_f] and Heracleia
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is the most obvious but also probably the most heavy to wear at least where I live, how about:
[name_f]Calista[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
Cleobel
Cleobella/Cleabella
[name_f]Cleodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleonie[/name_f]
Cleonice
[name_f]Cleora[/name_f]
Theoclea (real but gives “nuclear” to me)
[name_f]Cliodhna[/name_f]
Cleothilde/tilde
[name_f]Cleophee[/name_f]
You could also do two C names with the letters/sounds in there (eg with [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] etc)
Credit: found most of these from online search including via Appellation [name_m]Mountain[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thoughts were [name_f]Cleocharia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleora[/name_f] !
Other (stretchier) ideas:
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Callaia[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_f]Camellia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is used for the daughter of [name_u]Abby[/name_u] from Appellation [name_m]Mountain[/name_m]. Not sure if it’s your style, but just a thought!
For longer names, the most obvious is [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], but I think a lot of names could work at a stretch. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] also comes to mind. (All the letters are in the name)
Thank you so much for your suggestions!! I love the idea of [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], and [name_f]Cliodhna[/name_f] nn Clio!! Thanks again
Ooh definitely food for thought, I don’t love [name_f]Claire[/name_f], but [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a family name, and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Clio[/name_f] def works!! Thank you
