[name_f]Sonora[/name_f], [name_f]Sonia[/name_f], [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], [name_f]Sonna[/name_f] everything starting with [name_m]Son[/name_m]- since you don’t seem to like names ending in -son.
[name_u]Toby[/name_u] is a bit harder… [name_f]Tabea[/name_f] maybe?
I once saw [name_f]October[/name_f] nn [name_u]Toby[/name_u] which I thought was very sweet ! There’s also [name_u]Christobel[/name_u] nn [name_u]Toby[/name_u].
What about [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]? Or [name_f]Season[/name_f], [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], [name_f]Sonnia[/name_f]… Nn sonny.
Thanks for some great suggestions!! I think what I don’t like about Addison, Allison, & Madison, is really just how popular & common they are. But I actually quite adore ‘son’ endings. It’s just harder for me to think of girl ‘son’ options, while boy options pop into my mind easily. I was just looking further, & what are your thoughts on Ellison? Do you think people would assume Ellie?
Oooh… I really like October! But was it for a girl? October sounds like it’d be very cool for a boy… maybe a bit masculine? Thanks for more ideas! I hadn’t heard of Christobel before…
[name_u]Ellison[/name_u] would probably end up as another [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], since the nickname is so intuitive.
Another thing to consider might be the similarity to [name_u]Allison[/name_u].
I’m not sure if you like the name but not the popularity or if you’re not a fan of [name_u]Allison[/name_u] all together.
People on here have split feelings about ‘son’ names on girls, I myself am not a fan but since they’re so popular it doesn’t bother me and you should use one if you love it.
My friends niece is named [name_f]October[/name_f]. Everyone calls her [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. She has an incredibly girly middle name to even it out.
As for [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] the only other name I could think of that hasn’t already been suggested is [name_f]Crimson[/name_f] but that might be cruel and unusual punishment to give to a daughter.
Yeah, good point. They are so similar & she would probably end up [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]. I guess honestly I do really like ‘son’ endings, & both girls & boys, but you’re right about them being popular & it’s challenging to find one for a girl that’s not over-used.
Haha…
[name_f]October[/name_f]'s cool though. I’m going to give that one some thought!
Anyone else have any ideas other for [name_u]Toby[/name_u], or girl’s names ending in ‘son’, or other ideas for the nickname [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]? Any suggestions are welcome!!
I like [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] as a nickname but [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] just confuses me. All I can think of is someone calling their son ‘sonny-jim’. To me it’d be as if you were constantly saying you’d really wanted a son instead of a daughter.
[name_f]Season[/name_f] maybe? It’s a bit (okay, quite) out there but it’s different, not uber-popular and has no intuitive nickname, so [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] would have a great chance of happening!
The -son part doesn’t sound like “son” either.
Or [name_f]Lison[/name_f], which apparently is a variation of [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
I second this. [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is all boy for me, despite [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] with a [name_m]Chance[/name_m] (a tv show starring [name_f]Demi[/name_f] Lovato, for those who don’t know). I think on the show she was [name_u]Allison[/name_u] nn [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]. [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] however is lovely. I believe [name_m]Adam[/name_m] Sandler has a daughter called [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (his other is [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u], both sound really adorable).
I know a [name_f]Kasandra[/name_f] that was called [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]/[name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. She pronounces it with a short “a” sound (Kah-sahn-drah) instead of the long “a” sound. Other names that could have a similar sound short “a” sound would be [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], [name_f]Rosannah[/name_f], or [name_f]Chrisanta[/name_f]. Otherwise, names that could have a sunny/sonny nn are [name_f]Chanson[/name_f], [name_m]Jenson[/name_m] (I know a girl with this name), or [name_f]Sonya[/name_f].
For those who consider [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] too masculine, I think I’d be open to the nickname [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] or [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. There’s actually a show on TV with a female character Summerly, which I think is a very cute name. In that case, I’d like it very much with the nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. Any thoughts on Summerly?
I love [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this!!! I’d only ever considered it for a boy, but I’m encouraged that you knew a girl with this name!
Not sure that [name_f]Season[/name_f] is really my style. But [name_f]Lison[/name_f] is interesting to me. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce [name_f]Lison[/name_f]? The spelling actually looks quite appealing in my opinion & I haven’t heard this one before.
I like [name_m]Jenson[/name_m]! I hadn’t considered that for a girl before. That’s a great suggestion & I could see that working! [name_f]Kasandra[/name_f]'s very cool with [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]/[name_u]Sunny[/name_u], but I think Kansandra & [name_f]Sonya[/name_f] aren’t as much my style. [name_f]Chanson[/name_f] looks very pretty though!
