Full Names for Goldie (or should we keep it at Goldie?)

We really love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_u]August[/name_u] for girls. We also just discovered [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], which we love! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. I love it! But I’m not sure if we should leave it at [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] or give her a full name. ([name_m]Just[/name_m] not [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], it doesn’t appeal to me).

Thank you!

I like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. It is hard to say how it will age, but I think it is sweet and works well with your sibset. We are considering [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], which means ‘[name_u]Golden[/name_u]’ and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] would be one of her nicknames.

I like the idea of a longer formal name. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is very sweet and she could go by [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. But this way she also has a longer name if she prefers it.

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] means golden and Gersemi means treasure.

I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] could be a pet-name for [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], or, as the others have suggested, for a name with the meaning “gold” –

[name_f]Aurea[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f]
Eurwen
etc.

I actually love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a formal name… I say, go with what you love! Everyone will have a different opinion no matter what

I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is fine by itself. You love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], not some longer version so I wouldn’t worry. There’s a little [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] who is somewhat famous on Instagram and I think it’s super cute, and she wears it well.

I think just [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] fits well with the familiarity of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] or [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] would be an option, and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] as well, but [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] makes the most sense.
Anything stranger than that is going to feel odd next to staples like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

I’d go with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. So cute!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], but don’t see it as a full name. What about [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f]?

[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is a really cute nickname but doesn’t feel substantial enough for a full name to me. Also, I can see it fitting certain types of girl really well but it wouldn’t suit everyone, so it would be nice to have options. What about [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]? It has most of the letters, almost in the right order.

If you aren’t loving any of the obvious full names, I say put [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] on her birth certificate. There’s really no sense in coming up with some contrived full name option that you’re never going to use just for the sake of having a “formal name” on the birth certificate.

I think your best best is to use a name with the meaning “gold” or “golden” as mentioned above

I second this. If you prefer [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and don’t like any obvious full names, just name her [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. By the time our generation’s children are applying for jobs, their employers could be named anything from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] to Madysynne, or from [name_u]James[/name_u] to [name_f]Jaydynn[/name_f]. The professionalism/wearability of a name as a child ages is becoming less and less of an issue. Children grow into their names, and there’s not really a point in naming your child something you dislike in order to get to the name you love. Personally, I’d rather have a cutesy name my mum and dad adored than be named something they didn’t really like. It’s easier to get over and love your own unusual name if you realise that your parents chose it because they loved it.

I agree with this as well. Good luck!

I think you could use [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] alone if you didn’t like anything more, but, as someone who does prefer a “formal” name whether a nickname is set on or not, and also as someone who LOVES [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] (but only as a nickname), I just saw [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and I am suddenly obsessed with that idea. I’ve always loved [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] both. I hope you go for that one!

I love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]!
