I love [name_u]Billie[/name_u] on a girl, but I would like it better as a nickname for something else, so she has options (as [name_u]Billie[/name_u] can be seen as very manly and nicknamey)
I’ve thought of Wilhemina, [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], none of which I really like that much.
Would [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] work as a full name for [name_u]Billie[/name_u]? Are there any other names you guys can think of?
I personally can’t quite fit [name_u]Billie[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Sorry!
Well the first one I think of is [name_f]Belinda[/name_f] off Home and Away. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Belle[/name_f]?
[name_f]Belinda[/name_f] would be the most obvious extension of [name_u]Billie[/name_u] or Wilhemina I guess.
Other ideas: [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_u]Abilene[/name_u], [name_f]Billina[/name_f]
Other names that might be a bit odd to change but could work: [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
My first thought was [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (my full name) because as a kid I was [very occasionally] called [name_u]Billie[/name_u] by my family
I know a [name_u]Billie[/name_u]-[name_u]Tai[/name_u] and she wears it really well, and often goes by just [name_u]Billie[/name_u]
I think [name_u]Billie[/name_u] could definitely work as a nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. There’s so many different and not always obvious diminutives we already get from it that I don’t think [name_u]Billie[/name_u] would be too much of a stretch.
What about . . .
[name_f]Cybele[/name_f] (though it sounds a lot like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f])
[name_f]Kimberley[/name_f]
[name_f]Abrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
Bluebel
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]
[name_f]Basilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Bassilly[/name_f]
Like the suggestions of [name_u]Abilene[/name_u], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f].
You could hyphenate it too, I guess, though that wouldn’t strictly be a full name giving you the nickname, or perhaps use [name_u]Billie[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or something for the ‘formal’/full name and [name_u]Billie[/name_u] for short.
The first name I thought of was [name_f]Belinda[/name_f] I love, love [name_u]Billie[/name_u] on a girl, it’s strong but girly. I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] works for pretty much every nickname out there weirdly enough haha. I wouldn’t be surprised if [name_u]Billie[/name_u] was a nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. You could also use [name_u]Billie[/name_u] as a middle and do the whole ‘call her by her middle name’ thing. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would also work or even [name_f]Bella[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. Or you could use a first and middle that when combined sort of sound like [name_u]Billie[/name_u]. E.g [name_f]Belle[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_f]Bella[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. Or you could always go with a hyphen name like [name_m]Bille[/name_m]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_m]Bille[/name_m]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Billie[/name_u]-[name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]Billie[/name_u]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f].
Personally I think [name_u]Billie[/name_u] works great as a standalone
I think [name_u]Billie[/name_u] works really well as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
One of my favourite [name_u]Billie[/name_u] names is [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f], a gorgeous, elegant choice. There’s also [name_f]Liberty[/name_f], [name_f]Sybella[/name_f], and various [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] variations such as [name_f]Lisbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], [name_f]Lisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lizbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lizbet[/name_f], [name_f]Elisheba[/name_f]. I also like it for [name_f]Abigail[/name_f].
Then you could also use it for any of the ‘bel’ ending names, eg, [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Christabel[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] the name [name_u]Billie[/name_u] on a girl! I think it works alone as a first just fine, because it still has nickname potential ([name_u]Leigh[/name_u] or [name_f]Bea[/name_f] for example) especially if you pair it with the right middle name.
I also think it works for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] if you want to avoid the inevitable “[name_f]Liz[/name_f]/[name_f]Lizzie[/name_f]”) well, as a PP suggested, there are so many diminutives that it’s nice to see an inventive and uncommon nickname stem from it.
I agree with suggestions of [name_f]Willow[/name_f] (if you like trendy) & [name_u]Abilene[/name_u] (if you like uncommon).
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] work for me. I personally might have recommended [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], but you mentioned not liking that. [name_u]Billie[/name_u] does work as an independent name, but it can sometimes be good to have a full name. [name_f]Belinda[/name_f] would work, but I don’t like that name myself, because it means “serpent”. Sometimes it is translated as meaning “beautiful”, but I think that’s more a case of people believing in the meaning they want to. If you’re okay with the possible snake meaning, I guess I have to say, [name_f]Belinda[/name_f] is attractive, and [name_u]Billie[/name_u] could be short for that.
